Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: In the style of Gary Moore - Ballad & Blues by Piotr Kaczor

I`m still on my quest for better vibrato, and I love Gary Moore, so I guess I`ll start tackling the thousands of GM-lessons in here :D Guitar goes straight to Helix Native. This is 98% pure preset tone, as it was mostly to test HN and make sure it worked.

Wow - awesome to see a new REC take form you mate 👊

This an incredible lesson- and if Piotr is on fire you are def smokin 😎

Two main things that strike me:

* Your vibrato is very promising, but you are a bit too hot on it. Listen to Piotr at 00:04 how he gradually builds it up..fast! Which is not easy. It is essential that you give the listener time to hear the note before you start shaking it.

* Likewise, your playing in general is a tad too hot - and you seem to constantly be slightly ahead of the beat. The general rule is to be on or slightly behind the beat - until you reach the point where you can purposely go between the different feels.

This is still a very powerful attempt at this epic lesson and you get a 7 from me!

Hi mate!

Even with some details to adjust, I must say that I've enjoyed your take a lot!!

I feel that there is some room to polish your vibrato, timing and tone, but I also think that your vibrato is VERY promising. It's nice to see those wide "Gary Moorish" style vibratos everywhere!!

And you tone, can be a bit warmer, but the quality and dynamics are also very promising here. Even more if you just used a preset without any adjustment.

Regarding timing, I also notice that sometimes you rush a bit tempo. It's not a big issue but you can improve your overall groove here.

Another 7 here!

Hey there!

Gary Moore is one of my top, favorite players as well.I owe him much for his inspiration in phrasing and articulation. Let me point some gear related tips first.

Piotr has used more gain to achieve mellow tone and endless sustain. Originaly Gary used a Les Paul that has enormous amount of sustain form the guitar itself but still...Gary used some highly distorted tones as well. For this song I would definitely try to replicate that mellow, fat tone.

You took away a little tasty detail. Piotr is using both pickups. He starts on neck position and then he switches to bridge right before final part. I would definitely go for a neck pickup tone in the first part, even if you have single coil instead of humbucker.

As for playing...
You have some nice skills already buy you need top polish them to sound like a pro. I have 2 general complaints and both refer to pitch:

1. Bending pitch often doesn't reach the perfect pitch spot. Just a slice more strength and you'll be on spot.

2. You tend to push the string out of pitch while you vibrate. It is easier to control "perfect pitch point" when you pull the string down, instead of pushing. You can even notice it in your take - most of "detuned" vibratos, are the ones done upwards - especially B2 string and E1. E1 string is an exception because there is "no more fretboard" below. It then requires more attention to keep in in tiune.
