GMC Forum _ PRACTICE ROOM _ New Collab Suggestions

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Aug 29 2014, 03:20 PM

Hey guys!

We are thinking about starting a new collab already, while the Blues Rock one has its takes mixed and matched for the final video! We were wondering what style would you like to solo in, so let's share some opinions in this thread to see what would go best. So let's see - what will September's theme be?

Metal, Rock, Pop, Country, Acoustic, Funk or maybe something more unusual and exotic? Sinisa's world music lessons have amazing backing tracks smile.gif The idea is to have something that we can all enjoy together in a monster jam, as usual!

What style would YOU enjoy?

Posted by: Caelumamittendum Aug 29 2014, 05:48 PM

I'd like either some metal backing track or some ballad stuff, I think.

Posted by: Renan Aug 29 2014, 05:58 PM

Maybe a jazz collab ? Fusion rock stuff , Allan holdsworth etc...

Posted by: Nava Aug 29 2014, 06:17 PM

One thing I want to do, someday, is some heavy funk!
Maybe it has already been done..
Ballad is always full of emotions and therefor a true challenge:)

Interesting to see what it will be biggrin.gif

I'd love to give a shot at a funky rock fusion thing.

What style would YOU enjoy?

A pink Floydy type ballad or a 70's Doom / stoner style. smile.gif

Damn lots of nice suggestions smile.gif
I would like something progressive. Progressive metal or progressive rock backing with some signature changes and whatnot would be cool..

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Aug 30 2014, 07:05 AM

Hehe! Such a nice combo here biggrin.gif Keep the suggestions coming guys! I'm starting to get some nice ideas and I will discuss them today with Bogdan and Gabi - in the mean time, let's see some more thoughts on your preferences!

Posted by: Spock Aug 30 2014, 08:39 AM

Yea a Pink Floyd version would be awesome.

So would a funk rock version. Something over the genre of Tom Morello or Mike Einziger (though Einziger isn't really a solo a guy, but the bass lines for Incubus are incredible rhythms).

I like playing over rock ballads backing tracks.

Seems like a lot of you guys want the ballads smile.gif Let's see what other ideas arise until Monday and we'll decide next week wink.gif

My next lesson is in the pipeline. It's a epic rock ballad something in the style of Neal Schon, great for emotional soloing! So this should be something you would really like guys. :-D

I saw your last ballad lesson months and my legs are still shaking! Is it going to be harder or softer?

A ballad sounds very nice and judging on your last backing tracks, this will most likely be a killer one again biggrin.gif

What do you guys think?

The next ballad sounds a bit like an outer space filmscore with some classical touch but really emotional. Hard to describe. :-D

Thx Cosmin! :-)

We are currently selecting the backing track wink.gif A bit difficult as we have nice options and Guido's track sounds A-MA-ZING already!

This will be my next lesson by the way and should be finished between the next days. Hope you'll like it!

We're looking forward to hear it, Guido biggrin.gif Why not make a post about it? I am sure a lot of folks would enjoy listening and finding out a thing or two from behind the scenes - what inspired you, how did the recording process go and so on wink.gif

Hello gentlemen!

The new collab is on biggrin.gif

Cosmin!
What about a 3 note solo collab? They say it is better to play one note really really really well, than 1000 notes okay... A collab devoted to making one or only a few notes sound really well smile.gif

I have no idea what that would look like, but a collab to focus on playing that one note really well seems a noble cause biggrin.gif

I don't know if I can still give sugestions, but how about a songwriting-colab?
Where all the participants can write a part of the song..

Just a thought! smile.gif

Posted by: Cosmin Lupu Sep 17 2014, 07:33 AM

Hey Jams and Lester - we'll keep these ideas for later use of course biggrin.gif We haven't yet thought about next month's collab, so your suggestions are more than welcome! In the mean time - this one is up and running and we'd love to have you participating with us as well: http://www.guitarmasterclass.net/guitar_forum/index.php?showtopic=52969
