Judas Priest Performing British Steel In Its Entirety

The thread Jer made reminded me that Judas Priest is gonna be playing British Steel in its entirety on there upcoming 2009 tour. Any thoughts? I personally thought British Steel was a very week album. But still, I might see this show. But British Steel though erg. Its the Priest album that almost made me not wanted to check out other 80's Priest albums.

If you want Priest to do a an album in its entirety, what would you choose? I vote for Stained Class through and through.

Interesting news!

But I totally agree with you - British Steel pretty much sucks and it was my bad luck that it was the first Judas album that I had come across. It took me some random listening to actually explore their other stuff. When I joined my first band not long ago, I had to learn Rapidfire for audition (along with other classic metal stuff) and I really hated their powerchord abuse and bad solos. Not even the vocals would match the songs.

However, it would still be interesting to check them out live this year

Screaming for vengeance and Defenders of the faith. Or the best songs of the 70's - that'd be teriffic.

Thr British Steel idea doesn't make me jump around of joy

British Steel is not my favourite Priest album, but the tracks on this album are the ones which rock most when played live. So I can understand this decision.

That album is so boring. That single Breaking The Law just sounds so irritating. Although the song is like 3 minutes long, Halford repeated that line so much, that it felt forever to get through. When your following Stained Class though, anything will sound boring. That album was just pure Priest rockin. Also, Screamin for Vengeance would also be a good album to be played by Priest in its entirety. Painkiller would be close to third.

Hmm. Yeah British steel was weak. Screaming for vengeance, stained class or sin after sin. in that order.

They could remake the Unleashed in the east tour, all great songs!!

About British Steel, something is wrong when Breaking the Law is played on prime MTV time, which was the case.
I won't diss the album, but it was a bit too mainstream for my taste. But I guess they made a bigger audience just like Metallica reached out when they took a step away from thrash. When the Black Album was released even my gf at the time who listened to Celine Dion and stuff appreciated it.

I have fond memories of British Steel - It was the first concert I ever went to in a very small gymnasium in Karlesruhe, Germany with Judas Priest proudly proclaiming themselves as the loudest band in the world (which at the time was something that I was excited about as I worked part time as a worker on the what was touted as the world's loudest golfcourse at CFB Baden-Soellingen). Oddly enough, they played no songs from British Steel essentially playing most tracks from Unleased in the East (which was just fine by me).

Can't say I like the album to much although it was a good one to start learning guitar on if you need to learn power chords. Anyways, my favourite JP album is by far Stained Class - however, if I had any requests, I would like them to redo that album as the sound quality was just awful.
