GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Bluesy Metal Neo-classical (neo-blutal)?

Posted by: Ryan Jul 7 2007, 07:47 AM

Is there such a thing? A neo-classical song with heavy, bonecrushing riffs like metal? With a bluesy feel to it? I dont know if its possible!! Sure it is. It has to be. Right? Maybe, I hope so. Im just not sure. I love metal guitar, but i love the feel of blues, but i love the sound of neo-classical. Is there such a thing though Neo-blutal?? (Made up name biggrin.gif )

Will it even sound good? I hope so. It seems to me though that it will, but I dont here much of Neo-blutal. Well i here nothing really. I hope it sounds good? Those are my 3 favorite genres. So why cant i mix them together?? I dont see why i cant, but how would i go about this?? I dont know but ill try to do it anyway possible!!!

I really hope so. I mean why cant it be true?? If we have metal-blues, and neo-classical-blues. Why couldnt we have blues-metal- neo-classical (neo-blutal).
Does anybody know of this genre if it is even a genre!! Maybe its just some type of other genre. I dont know. I would love to know though. If there isnt such a thing (I dont know why there cant be) I will make such a thing. Heavy metal licks, but using like the Melodic-Minor Scale with a blues groove, or feel to it??
If anybody knows of any guitar players with this type of playing. Please, and i repeat Please, let me know, and post a link on here. Im forever searching for such a thing.

All questions are not to be answered except for the last one requesting the link to a guitar player that is like this!!!

well, like Kris said, we definately dont want another Yngwie, SRV, or Mustaine, so why dont u mix them and create your style mixing that stuff you like? wink.gif smile.gif You can even name it like you just did! Its all about being original! wink.gif biggrin.gif Id say, try to mix Neo Classical, Bluesy and heavy licks, and voila! biggrin.gif cool.gif

You're kind of confused I think. At least, the way I would describe it is that Neoclassical is a subgenre of metal. So I think really you want neoclassical blues, with heavy riffs. Simple! Put down some heavy riffs and do a neoclassical solo with a blues feel to it. Not that I have any links for you tongue.gif

theres definately no reason why there should be boundaries at all. There are so many sub metal genres that i cant even differ from. So go give it a shot, and upload something so we can check it out!

Well Neo Classical was born when Yngwie said, hey, why can't I mix metal and classical? So Why not Neo-blutal? This is the way to originality my friend - you can show us all the way smile.gif

Ahh i hope so Andrew. It seems to me though it will be very hard to develop this sort of style. Considering, that i have heard nothign of this sort of stuff before. So its like starting from nothing.
But trial and error, will get me where i want to go biggrin.gif

Well Hammett for example already has a very well developed blues-metal style, I don't think it'd be impossible to mix neoclassical in there.

Try this guy, Corbin King. I discovered him a couple weeks ago, and I think he's pretty amazing. He has a lot of blues feel to him with some neoclassical influence and a lot of metal stuff I think. You might like it smile.gif

Corbin King is an insane guitar player, he is the lead guitarist and one of the main songwriters for "Vainglory"

Vainglory - Burdened

Fantastic album by the way, Kate French has an incredible voice!!

I have his solo album Destination, it's really good. He's fast when he wants to be (which is, most of the time, but not always tongue.gif) and can be very fast yet always sounds melodic and has a lot of feeling I think.
