Hi, thank you!

-I've been playing for about 9 years now
-I started out with Nirvana, then John Mayer, then Mark Knopfler, then Jimi Hendrix and SRV. Currently I play more AC/DC, Guns 'n Roses, ZZ Top. I like melodic solo's, the ones you can recall and even non-guitarist remember note by note. One of my favorites is Tunnel of Love. The solo is almost a song on its own.
-I play in 2 bands and we are about to release our first EP. I do gigs about once a month. I would like to be able to play covers really well (one band is a cover band, birthdays, weddings, pubs), and be comfortable on stage enough to give a show without messing up. For the other band I would like to make our songs more interesting with good and fitting guitar parts and solo's.
-Gigging more often (at least twice a month), totally comfortable on stage, playing technical advanced solo's with ease and being able to play effortlessly biggrin.gif
-I can play for about 18 days per month, and I can do 1-2 hours everyday.
-Yes

Weak points:

-Keeping really solid track of time (I do practice with a metronome)
-Speeding up (solid rhythm at higher bpm's, but especially solo'ing)
-Switching from rhythm guitar to solo guitar and back (I'm the only guitarist in the band)
-Picking technique
-When playing live, I blank out on solo idea's
-Staring at my guitar playing live, even though I should be able to play blindly

Strong points:

-Fast learner
-Good rhythm guitar timing, steady
-Musical playing
-Dynamics

-I'm pretty advanced in musical theory due to classical piano training. I also read tabs, and drum sheets.
-At the moment I can't record video of myself. I can record audio in a studio.

-Some covers we recorded:

Thank you very much for taking the time to help me.

Kind regards,

Victor

Hi Victor, nice to meet you here! smile.gif

At first I'd like to share this video that will give you tools to be able to record youself with your computer:

I've checked your soundcloud link and I can say that it sounds really good. Based on your comments, there are two main things to work:

- Technique

- Improvisation

This is what I suggest to start:

ASSIGNMENT #1:

Goals:

- Polishing your playing
- Improving your improvisation skills.

TASK 1:

- Work on this lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Simple-Aminor-Soloing/

TASK 2:

- Watch this lesson and apply the concepts to Simple A minor Soloing lesson: https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/Your-First-Phrases/

Exam and deadline:

By December 20th you'll have to share 2 videos/audios: (You can use even your cellphone to record it)

- A video playing the lesson (5 coins)
- An improvisation based on Task 2 (5 coins)

Each of these videos will be evaluated (check the coins value below). You need to get at least 7 coins to pass. If you pass, we can continue, if you don't you will have a second "call" that would be the last one.

Hi Victor!

Great job man! This videos look and sounds good! I can say that you have a good base here and that with some work on details your playing will be really good. I notice that most of your takes sound tight and that a good part of your bends reach the right pitch, while some other need work, as well as your vibrato technique.

In order to polish this lesson (A minor solo), you could keep on playing it twice every day trying to adjust timing in both licks that are not precise, and improve mostly your vibrato technique, as well as adjust those bends that are not reaching the right pitch.

The idea would be that you keep on practicing this lesson, comparing each lick with the original lesson regarding those 3 elements, and start working on this two lessons:
