Iron Maiden?

Just starting to see how great a band they really are. Since I consider myself a rhythm player, which of their players do you think play most of the rhythms. May 12 2009, 04:32 PM	Learning Rock Star Posts: 1.518 Joined: 16-April 09 From: Sandnes, Norway	In my opinion, Dave Murray is the one that actually gives the technical power in Iron Maiden's songs, as he plays legato-based shred that may not always sound perfectly melodical, but they are cool nevertheless. He is my favourite guitar player in Iron Maiden, probably because he seems to be a very decent person... Adrian Smith is very bluesy and melodical, probably because he also had a career in singing, which gives him a different approach to writing melodies. When I think of the person who has infleunced Iron Maiden's rhythm the most at the moment, it's Janick Gers. If you watch live videos of him on stage playing on the lower frets, he sometimes strokes and tickles his guitar... He's very experimental in his guitar playing I dare say. However I am not an expert in this area, although Iron Maiden is my favourite band. Please correct me if I say things that don't make sense. Which he did actually say in Metal Maniacs 25 years of Iron Maiden issue. His lead tone is just awesome! I dont think dave, or adrian, or janick by themselves have the definitive sound for Maiden, we all know Murray and Adrian together form the classic maiden sound, and Janick adds new elements that define maiden today. In the old days Murray and Smith shared the rhythms and solos in albums and live concerts. Nowadays I think that it's the same between Murray, Smith and Gers but I'm not sure. Apart the one in "The Clansman" they all sound very random and inconsistent...
