GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Fuhrmann Noise Gate

Posted by: Todd Simpson Mar 17 2015, 10:54 PM

I just sent this Fuhrmann Noise Gate to BEN HIGGINS in England. It's making "the crossing" and hopefulling will arrive in tact smile.gif I have really enjoyed this pedal but I already had been using a smart gate on my board so this one is going spare. Glad it will go to a good home smile.gif

Also, these will not be available in the U.S. only in Europe. So I was one of the few to get to try it which was cool. I Hope ben likes it! It works really well with tube amps. It's built using a vintage design originally created just for taming the noise on big tube rigs.

Ben will be making a review vid which I'm looking forward to!

Looks good and boutique. ive never used this pedal before. im curious whats inside and what circuit it uses. i still rely on my ISP Decimator. maybe its the best noise gate ive ever used.

Spot on!! Hand built. Pure boutique wink.gif I'm not sure what the bits are exactly, but ben can take the cover off when he gets it and take some pix. I tried the ISP decimator and ended up sending it back. This one seemed to be able to hold back more noise.

Hello Todd. i`m sure that the noise maybe came from 100+ different spots and the its tricky to find the noise gate suitable for you. i`ve tried almost all popular market pedals and this one did the trick for me. if you are happy with this cute machine keep it smile.gif which version of decimator you were using ? g string or standard one?

Gotta use what works for ya! smile.gif I tried both versions of the decimator. This gate pictured is the one I'm sending to BEN HIGGINS. The one that's on my board is the the dunlop smart gate. Everyone has different experiences of course depending on a variety of factors. So I got hold of

*Rocktron Hush II
*Both Decimator Models
*Dunlop Smart Gate
*Fuhrmann Gate

The Fuhrmann was the only "Boutique" gate in the bunch. The Rocktron Hush II was by far the weakest of the lot. The Decimators both seemed to to better on TUBE rigs, as did the Furhmann. The dunlop seemed to do best on fx processors. I kept it attached to my AVID 11 RACK. The 11 has it's own noise gate but it's a bit ham fisted imho. smile.gif
