> Rules

Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Hi Coffeeman,

This lesson is killer for working groove and dynamics. You are doing a good job with this one but there is still room to improve on both directions. There are some moments in the intro and also during the solo (for example at 00:36 and at 00:50) when your timing is not smooth so you should pay more attention to these sections that are the most notorious, but even the other sections cool sound a bit more groovy. This is also completely related to dynamics, vibrato and bending that are the other things to adjust a bit on your take.

These are not dramatic issues but that's where you have to put your focus during the next days of practice. I think that playing along with the original lesson can really help to be contagious of Javier's feeling and groove.

That's all, this is on the right track, just keep on working.

Cheers,

Gab.-

Hey Coffeeman!

Glad to see you in action in the REC Zone, man!

This lesson is a tremendous way in which you can hone your groove chops and I congratulate you for choosing it, while adding that working on the dynamics and overall interpretation of the lesson is the only thing you needto focus on. Playing alongside the original will prove very useful in this situation, so please take the time to practice like this.

Keep funking!

Cosmin

That was really cool, man.. love the groove !

You had a good control of muting and palm muting as well, which is very important for this style of playing. Funk is a very staccato style of guitar so you did well to keep things under control.

As the lads say, spend some time jamming with the original to get that relaxed, easy groove !
