First Live Imac Rig? Options

i think so, i think digital studio rigs are becoming very reliable, and so many sounds, and live recording options

Hmm that iMac looks a bit old?

I think that utilizing power of the computer/laptop in a rig is definitely something we'll see much more often in the future. For example, I do see A LOT of potential of using laptop + midi keyboard to get various samples or sounds live. Not sure how such setup is practical and usable in live gig (where you need to change tones etc) but it feels like a doable thing. I'm mentioning this kind of setup as advanced and professional keyboards nowadays are extremely expensive yet you can in theory get the same audio quality using computer + midi keyboard setup.

I'm personally not looking forward to such advances since I have always looked for as simple as possible setup solutions for live gigs. Also, I was always amazed at the overall quality of music gear - stompbox pedals last forever, guitars as well, amps can take a beating of the tour and still deliver....thinking about it - I've never really had a piece of music gear break on me. I guess it is because it is designed to take a beating or features less "planned obsolescence" ?

That iMac is more than a bit old It's 2010! I was using it just as a display for controlling the ELEVEN RACK Editor software. I also used the Tablet to get touch control of the 11R editor which was very handy

I agree on the laptop thing becoming more common. Tablets as well. I'm starting to see tablets (pretty much ipads of some stripe) on pro rigs and back stage putting out sound while cabs out front are unplugged. The new BIAS FX makes the mobile platform a serious contender IMHO. As tablets get more and more powerful, it'll only get better

But I too like stomps and cabs and such ipads are still somewhat fragile. If you smack it hard enough, the glass will certainly crack and I"ve seen wads of them cracked for sure.
