I don't mind metal, in fact I like some of it a lot, but the amount of subgenres is ridiculous. It makes the genre into a joke. Someone adds some techno-synth stuff in the background of a riff, and now it's "industrial metal"?... Or a really slow tempo and now that's a new genre? NO. No it's not. That's called making songs that don't all sound the same.
These days bands start up for a while and then get a fanbase and some publicity and get interviewed or whatever and fans start talking and making up new labels, and then it spreads around on the internet and word of mouth, and becomes a new subgenre when a couple of other similar bands get labeled that way as well. lol...come on now
