String Life?, No sustain!

I dont seem to get any sustain on the higher strings above about 12 fret. Is it my lack of vibrato or is it likely to mean I need new strings. Feb 25 2009, 06:42 PM	GMC:er Posts: 1.771 Joined: 2-April 08 From: Budapest, Hungary	as Roger said, it's probably the action. although strings loose some sustain when getting older, they don't loose all of it or extremely much. they tend to get a little duller and a little less articulated. so check your action, maybe it's too low and when you pick hard the string bounces against the frets (this doesn't make any fretbuzz but takes away the sustain as you have described).
