So yesterday i made a boo boo. A rather large boo boo.
With an upcoming gig i decided to install strap locks on my new ESP JH600
Unfortunately during, i fretted one of the screws and was unable to get it out. This forced me to break out the plyers to unscrew it and take it out but in doing so, i took a chunk out of the paint work (where the screw was so close yet so far i cliped the paint work as i turned it)
Fortunately i have a friend who paints, and can repair guitars, so he's gonna fix it, but since this isnt my first boo boo as a guitarist whos been playing for 8 or so years i was curious about anyone elses "horror stories" of when they have accidentally hurt their beloved.

I know that terrible feeling all too well. I have three electrics and a acoustic. They all have had at least one accident.
The worst is when my Gibson LP slipped off a couch and the headstock cracked. As some of you probably know, LPs are notorious for this. It wasn't cracked all the way through fortunately. I was able to do a repair and it has been solid for years.

Ouch, i had a similar thing happen with my second guitar, a BC rich warlock. That cost me a horn on the head stock

I was tuning my friends guitar and the nut broke, So I went and bought a new to nut . I thought to myself " I know what i'm doing I can fix this " So i started my repairs. Well in an attempt to take the old nut out, which was superglued x10 i broke part of the neck wood off Haha at that point I Re-glued the piece of the neck back on and took it to a music store. Now it is playing fine ! My friend wasn't mad either it was an old guitar that he bought for $100 usd. And he always says guitars are meant to be played. Although i do try to take every precaution i can to keep my guitar in good shape. But I am not just going to let it sit in a case. Thankfully there is guitar repair men !!!

There was this one time when my strap broke and my guitar hit the ground really hard, i broke the pickup selector and got some battle wounds.

I just have one guitar at the moment, a gibson LP standard, if that happened to mine I would be inconsolable!

last song of the night, was putting my guitar on for the encore, did not have the strap on all the way ( thought I did), guitar slipped off
cracked the fret board off the neck
Epoxy is amaing

The repair I did on my LP is very similar this one. Mine has a wood finish so its not as noticeable. Epoxy does work magic.

Oh man almost the exact same thing happened to a buddy of mine! His cream colored LP Custom took a similar fall and cracked the headstock on the back very similar to the pic you posted in your 2nd post but the crack was all the way across. He was able to glue it back fortunately as well and it still plays like a dream.
My first guitar was a Suzuki LP copy and the case for it was kind of ragged, I was running across the street one day to catch a bus and it came out of its case , hit the pavement and slid about 10 feet across the road, the neck was almost completely dislodged from the body , I am not even sure what was holding it from coming off but I was able to get it home and get some good ol epoxy in there and clamp it together again. I was really suprised that I was able to salvage it but it came out still playing pretty good with some nice road rash on the back for character
. Since it was a Suzuki maybe I should have been riding it rather than carrying it 
Feeling any better yet Narzsa?

It amazing how much damage can be done in an accidental single moment isnt it?
But like alot of you have said, somethings it just adds character to that guitar because of that moment and the scars it then bears

Well, the sillies one is probably on me - I was rehearsing with Voodoo a few weeks ago and guess what, I tried to pull a stunt like Clint from Sevendust does and I hit my headstock on the pedalboard 
Result? A pretty decent sized piece of the finish was chipped off...
As startled as I was, I couldn't hold myself down and laughed out loud
