Peter Frampton uses one. they are designed to make your guitar playing replicate words and vocals.

I have one. The Hiel Talk Box. It's been around forever and it is really fun to play. It's basically a speaker magnet in a metal box with the tube replacing the cone. You run a signal out from your amp (not the line out because it needs an amplifyed signal - because it is a speaker) into the box, strap the tube on the mic stand so that it comes right up about an inch from the mic, put the tube in your mouth and then form sounds with your mouth as you play the notes. Kinda like a wah wah pedal but with your mouth.

Need to be careful though because if you crank it you will get a pretty strong vibration in your mouth! hope you have strong teeth ohmy.gif tongue.gif It is a speaker!

You will need a PA to use it though and most likely another amp, or at least an amp with two channels, one dedicated to the talk box.

It gets to be a little more expensive proposition than just a simple stomp box because of all the things you need to use it live. If you just want to record then you can get away with one amp, but you need the type of amp that allows you to unplug a speaker out so that you can run it to the box.

You could spend hours just making cool sounds though. People freak out when they see you use it. Most people have never seen one used live. It gets attention! cool.gif

I got mine a long time ago but I think it is worth it just for the fun. It takes some practice if you really want to get good at it. I don't regret getting it at all!
