Guthrie Govan Creative Guitar 1 And 2, Any thoughts?

I'm considering getting the books.
I heard good things about them but wanted to know if any of you have used them and what your thoughts are.
From what I read, the first book is more theory and he 2nd is technique...
Is that true?

How far in theory does the first one go?
Are both books independent or do I need to strat with the first one?
