Out with all the modelling stuff, in with some real tube sound, finally plumped for, wait for it...........................................

Blackstar HT-5 head and mini stack!!

Been playing a few amps lately but just couldnt get over the quality and price of this when I played it today, it feels like a tank and has all the great features I was after (FX loop, 2 channels, FS).

Word of warning though, this thing is loud man!! No way can you play it cranked (even though its only 5 watts) in a house, but to be honest the overdrive has its own volume knob which means I could get some dirt at (Reasonably) low volumes, even clean it has a really nice rounded tone, not as clear and chimey as the fender i tried recently but far better than my old Marshall Valvestate, the od channel is just great, vitually any kind of dirt is in there somewhere, I havent figured out the ISF (Infinite Shape Feature) yet but I will!

I cant wait to try some old skool pedals through this, any suggestions??

Welcome to the Blackstar HT5 club smile.gif

Havn't played with pedals yet but a good reverb could be useful for starters.

Once you're a bit more familiar with it would you write a Review so that I can feature it in the Gear Wiki??

Those of you who have got the Blackstar stack. Would you advise getting the cab that comes with it, or buying a seperate one?

Havent played it though another stack but I think it would be awesome through a 4x12, thing is the mini stack is such unbeleivable value for matched speakers its hard to justify recommending any thing else!

EDIT: This thing has an output (Marked emulated output and headphones) for connection direct to a recording device or desk, can it be plugged straight into one of the inputs on my UX2 Theyre both 1/4" connections??

I'm sure you can do it that way. I found this on YT and this is what the guy says:-

This song was recorded using the lineout of the Blackstar HT-5 head. The first riff is played on a '64 Gibson SG junior, using the 1x12 emulation, then the second riff is provided by a Gretsch Brian Setzer Hot Rod (surprise!) with the 4x12 emulation. A Les Paul R7 is used on all the harmonised and lead parts, using both emulations.
