Hey GMC,
I'm looking for an all tube new amp to use for gigs with my band. I now have a Vox AD50Vt, but I'd like a full tube amplifier. I saw this one on a Dutch Craiglist type site:

text:
I've got a Marshall JCM 800 4210 combo, it's a 50 watts tube combo. It's the 2-chanel version with reverb. The footswitch is included. The amp is from '82 and features the famous Drake (transformer? not sure...). It sounds perfect, real marshall sound.
It needs some checking though. The tube caps have been replaced once for different ones, but they don't really fit well. Maybe it's a good thing to replace the tubes and reset the bias.
Amp words fine now, clean channel is all fine, but the overdrive gets a little undefined in combination when there's lots of bass.
What do you guys thing? Is repairing the things he said very much work? How hard is it to bias and/or replace tubes? And the tube caps, I've got no clue on this I play in a bit of a rock/hardrock band, so this will probably fit my style.
He said bottom price is 250 euros, isn't that a bargain? I mean, shouldn't I just buy it as investment maybe?
Sean
Not sure if this is a good bargain. Such a low price combined with that text tells that amp was unsuccessfully modified. You will need at least 150$ to make it work, and that is not for sure too. I would advise to skip it.
Unless you have plenty of experience fixing and modifying amps, I would stay away from it.
for 200 euros i would try it, check if u like it first.
