If you really want a band, you are the most important person to move it forward. This can mean going solo or not. Bands always have kind of a core, that keeps the band together. That is made of motivated people who knows a thing or two about music.
I was actually thinking like "ok, I sing something between like bad and ok but I will try to do all myself" when suddenly I met more people: a experienced keyboard player, a real good bassist and in special this amazing singer that is playing with me. Sometimes, when you stop looking for something it comes to you. You just have to keep your own serious work on that If you are on island, it's probably more easy to start only you, on guitar and voice. But don't lose your hopes This post has been edited by Gus: Nov 13 2008, 01:17 AM -------------------- my "Thank you GMC!" video

Be patient mate, you are still young and don't need to worry yourself if you can't find a band now. The band will come, just stay focused on the guitar, one day somebody will ask you to join the band or you will form your own. Sometimes you just can't do it intentionally, just wait until it happens, and believe it will.

And in another forum somewhere a girl says: "Every single time I meet my guitarist friend he asks me to join his band, I say yes and never hear from him again". that's what was I thought aswell, maybe the way you tell it you're putting a part of the responsibilty to get started on the ones you ask. So you're both waiting for a reaction while I think probably you have to be the engine. Come up with a concrete proposal and be prepared if or when someone shows up for the band practice session. If you know a song by heart you can lead the others through it, pick an easy one for starters. But most important, be the engine yourself and make things happen! -------------------- My bands homepage

And in another forum somewhere a girl says: "Every single time I meet my guitarist friend he asks me to join his band, I say yes and never hear from him again". Yes, that could be very well happening. When I met some of those people I mentioned, I didn't hear from them from a couple of days. Then I simply decided to sent an invitation: "Let's meet at my place on Sunday at 19 to discuss about the band". I bought a couple of chips, cola, chocolate, wine, beer so that I could receive them and be friendly. Friendship is perhaps more important on a starting band than advanced music knowledge. We chatted a little bit about what was everyone's expectation and in the end we even recorded a first demo of our own material. The singer had a piece of paper on her pocket with some lyrics, and I just showed something I composed the day before. Everyone was interested in band. But I was the one deciding to take the actions to make it happen for real. And I am still doing it. Using the words the guys mentioned: I decided to be the engine. Hmm maybe if you want to go with one man band thing you can make your own songs backing tracks or covers and play alongside them live...That way you will have the bass , drums keyboards - everything you need...
