Hey guys! As the "what are you listening now" it a great thread for discovering great songs and bands I think that this thread could be very cool for discovering amazing books.
I didn't have enough time to read the last months so I'm still finishing "Effortless Mastery" but I'm planning to read more books this second part of the year.
What about you?
A book called Isle of Woman
It's quite a different book. It basically follows all of Mankind from 3 million years ago to present day. Each chapter is in a different place and time, but the characters remain the same, and it shows them in different adaptations.
Nothing at the moment but the last one was that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lords_of_Chaos_%28book%29 that Ben recommended about the early black metal 'goings on' in Norway. It was really interesting. I'll probably read it again
A bio of Pablo Picasso in his early years by Norman Mailer.

I'm afraid lately I can only read ....owner's manuals Lack of time makes me unable to read ...
Unfortunately I don't have free time to read a book, but the last book I read it was Walter Piston - Orchestration
Right now i am reading NONE !
And i had to think about the last One i read around 3 years ago Can`t find it right now but
a Biography - Leonardo Da Vinci can`t remember witch Author ......
I used to read a lot ONCE ... its time to talk now
Dieter
I think I managed to nail the best of both worlds, as Darius, I am into The Lexicon Alpha 2.0 manual and the Yamaha HS7 manual and on the side, I am reading a book about Myths and Legend in the Masonry.
I'm reading a fictional novel called All That Remains by Patricia Cornwell. And no, it doesn't have anything to do with that band
I just read World War Z again (already read it years ago) since the movie was kinda disappointing.
Not sure what I'm gonna read next, but I have many choices.
And since I spent most of my weekends at the lake at the moment, I have lots of time to read
Yes Gabe, most definitely! Go see them! This is my favorite song:
Bear Grylls Mud,sweat and tears. I dont really read that many books but I have just started reading this book and I am really enjoying it
I'm gonna start reading this book now / It influence a lot of deathrash musicians.
Steve Barry - Templars Legacy for me at the moment.
I'm currently reading The Practice of Practice by Jonathan Harnum and it is very very good. Possibly better than the Effortless Mastery book. It explains not only how to practice but also what happens within the brain when practising, I find these explanations even more encouraging because it makes you really realise that you need to slow down until you play with no mistakes because the brain does something to the neurons that reinforce what you practise and it doesn't know if you are practising with or without errors. I'm only 20% into the book but so far it is really good. It also explains about the differences in brain structure with different preconceptions about talent being genetically given or earned through practise and that state can be changed.
I recommend it for students at any level and instructors too. Everyone can learn from this book.
