For I think it was Daniel that had this lesson... but if anyone can help that'd be awesome... Hey man it's pretty self explainatory but you think you could email me the tab for this solo or a link to the tab as just showing the scale doesnt always do it im always afraid im missing a note i wanna get it down perfect, if you could thanks... and you have the best cover of this solo on the web man props.

Hi Marco, I don't think anyone will post a tab for copyrighted songs here.
Daniel's video was pretty awesome, both in terms of vocal explanation and production.
Try looping the part you are having problems with and 'listen' to it again and again. No tab will ever come close to your ears.
If you're still having troubles with any particular part of that solo, please mention that part/lick in this thread, I'm sure someone will help you out.

I started learning it too.. my progress is slow i'm afraid.

Oh ok yeah ill keep you updated on the parts im talkin about but for now im goin to bed been playin it all day haha I got it down pretty good up until the quick melodic sounding part because i can barely reach from the 10th to the 17th on that high E just enough to pull off but not comfortably at all its annoying the hell outa me.

Holy wars is also very good for guitar!

ok so on the diminishing arpeggios right before that crazy fast part where do they end and beging... does the first one end on 8th fret D string or do you play the 7th fret d string right after that before you play it again for the next one? if that makes any sense... so do you hit the 7th fret D string twice or just once.. when u start the 2nd arrpeggio

Scrap my previous answer .. seems somethin is goin on here
edit- ok, it seems like when Daniel explains it slowly, he ends and starts on the A note (7th fret) .. But when you hear him play both the arpeggios together .. he ends the first arpeggio on A# (8th fret D string) and then starts the second arpeggio from A note (7th fret D string) ... So you dont hit the 7th fret twice. ... Thats my understandin.

alright thanks!

so how are you supposed to sweep pick that when ur pickin the same string more than once on those 2 arpeggios?

Posted by: zen Mar 16 2010, 09:55 AM

upstroke on 8th fret (last note of first arp), then downstroke on 7th (1st note of second arp)? and then hammer on 11th?
what do u think?
watch his right hand on the main vid very carefully.. haven't reached that section yet unfortunately (so see you next year smile.gif ) .. will keep an eye on this thread.
I'm curious to solve this mystery too smile.gif

Are you playing this at speed?

Posted by: Marco Fattori Mar 17 2010, 07:14 PM

up till sweeping those arpegiios yeah im playin at full speed cause i cant figure out how to sweep that well I can do that little one towards beginning, and that really quick part after the arpegios when it gets to reaching the 17th fret from the 10th i can barely reach so it sucks... but up to there sounds good the arpeggios are frustrating though heh

Posted by: zen Mar 18 2010, 01:14 AM

That's good to know.. smile.gif
Ya, that sweeping part is indeed quite tough.

Have you tried dropping a pm to Daniel and requesting him to post in this thread to clarify the queries?

Posted by: Marco Fattori Mar 18 2010, 06:58 PM

nah I want to! im not sure how though to be honest lol...

Hey Marco,

I just saw this thread,

I would like to help you with your questions on that solo,

For the diminished arpeggios before the fast two-string part, the way I pick is like this

you start normally with downwards sweep, shift position to 9th fret on the high e string, go back down and then do the picking on the graphic,

I realized this is the way I do it, but it doesn't mean you can't do it other ways, when I was trying to figure out how I do it, sometimes I did it slightly differently but this is definitely the way I naturally do it.

For the fast part and the big stretch from 10th to 17th frets on the high E string, you need to move your arm and hands so that you are able to reach that note. If you stay in the same "normal" position it's going to be impossible. Also note where you place your thumb, it may go below the middle of the neck. It hurts, but it only last what, 1 second? biggrin.gif

sorry for my ignorance as ive only been playin guitar for a year and a month.... but I thought sweeping meant a different string as you went down how can u have a sweepin motion with more than one note on the same string? hamer on and pulloff those? cause u have to pick twice the 3 and 6? or u hammer on ?

that's right, you have to do a pull off there from 9th fret to 6th on the G string,

that's the "trick"

Posted by: Marco Fattori Mar 19 2010, 10:10 AM

ohhhhh.... if you wouldn't mind can u finish the arpeggio tab till right before the quick alternate pickin part?

Question, what is the picking for the alternative picking section after the diminished? UP Down up etc. Also, any advice for speeding up sweeps would be appreciated.

This is my progress so far (3days)

dude, make sure you have plenty more light next time you record, it just helps alot

The solo is sounding quite cool actually,

I would say "don't be afraid" of doing that fast alternate part aggressively. It has to be played really hard cause otherwise it's gonna be way more difficult. Let go more your hand, if that makes sense,
