Hi Guys,

I’ve just moved to Vancouver, BC & could only bring my strat and a handful of pedals. I’m looking to join a band so I need an amp (and a good one at that!) but of course I don’t want to empty out my wallet, so I was thinking around the $600 mark on craigslist, so if I get a used amp, I can get something pretty good for that price.

Back home I had a Fender blues deluxe reissue but I always found that it seemed very dry & left a lot of “responsibility” on my pedals? So for solo’s, there weren’t enough sustain for my liking and the guitar didn’t sing as much as I’d of liked. So I’m looking for something that is an all rounder for my pedals and has a nice clean tone but gives me the sustain I need for guitar solos.

I play blues/pop-rock kind of stuff.

Players / tones I like are Mike Campbells from Tom Petty & the heart breakers, also gary moore’s too.

Any suggestions on what I should be looking out for?

Thanks alot

Hi guys, I'm interested to know the most effective way(s) to learn and master any GMC lesson. I always try to think "how can i improve my ability to learn" in any aspect of life. So i'm intrigued, is there a more effective way to practise GMC lessons. Such as, would it be more effective to simply learn all the fingerings and positions first and foremost so that i build the muscle memory for each section and to worry about feel, timing, tempo, rhythm etc at a later stage once i know what i'm doing.

How do you tackle a lesson?

Hi guys. I've just started music college and I have been put in a big band group with some great musicians and I'm excited for a new challenge.

Apparently our instructor usually pushes students down the Jazz/Soul route (based on his personal taste)
I'm just wondering if you could point me in the right direction as to what I can listen to which can give me ideas. Are there any great guitarists who play in big bands that I can take some inspiration/ideas from ?

Hi guys, i'm not sure if i've already posted about this before, but i find ear training difficult. I even find it difficult when watching a youtube video to work out what people are playing and i can physically see it!

I'm currently tackling this michael landau video on youtube & although i can see it, i still don't know what he's playing & It's frustrating because i really love the riffs he's playing and i want to be able to play them immediately! haha.

Any advice?

Hi guys, I've had a conditional offer from a music college, who have requested me to study Music theory to a Grade 2 standard (ABRSM).

I'm just wondering if anybody has any ideas where i should start? What book should i buy or what website should i visit?
