Hi Cosmin
hope you are having a nice week end.
I would like to ask you one thing. Do you think I can send you here in your forum my preparatory takes for the rec (ie the ones at slow tempo, without effects and full of mistakes) in order to get your comments, tips and complaints wink.gif ?

Thanks
Carmine

Thanks Cosmin.
I am going to the Beginner series (and doing again the lesson 11 after the comments in the REC) plus some lesson to have fun (at the moment Gab's Coldplay). This will help me a lot.

Regards
Carmine

Sweet - piano, violin and Japanese sound totally awesome, man! I should start learning Japanese myself, as all the words and expressions I know so far, come from the sword practicing.

Let's see some guitar playing videos, shall we?

here the B Rose lesson 11 (theone of my REC) at 80 bpm with a cleaner sounds.
Timing is my bigger issue, not playing with anyone else make it very difficult to notice it.

Thanks

Hello Carmine smile.gif I can notice improvement! Your timing is better indeed, but there's still space to improve - I would like to make a little video for you in which I will talk about balance and rhythmic subdivisions smile.gif Stay tuned!

Thanks for the video response Cosmin.
I did a take at 90 bpm tonight:

and this is a partial first attempt of the Coldplay lesson (70% of the original speed)

Hey Carmine - I think that you did a very good job with the second video! Everything sounds in good timing and it's played clean! All you need to do now is practice using the higher speed backing tracks, in order to get it up to the original speed smile.gif

The first one tho - try to focus on what I suggested in the video I sent, as you still have some problems with timing - some of the chords don't fall on the exact beat. Another idea would be to play along with the original recording and notice where you tend to delay or rush - have you tried that?

Beginner Lesson 11: I followed your suggetsions but still have to find a good timing. Do you know an even easier lesson on rhythm here at GMC. It si strange is not difficult at all this one but it seems I could not find the tempo right. Playing along the main lesson: I tried but becouse of the distortions is difficult to find the strum
Coldplay lesson: the intro (not on my video) is tricky, difficult to find the right tempo since the backing track does not follow the progression. Will practice following the main lessons as I will do for the other lessons.

Thanks so much for your help

Carmine

Hey Carmine - since you fared so well with the slow version of the Coldplay song - which is more difficult than the Beginner Corner 11 if you are to ask me smile.gif I think you could try the follwing things before trying a new easier one:

- play along with the original recording without having your guitar plugged smile.gif You will hear where the chords fall against the beat without having to pay extra attention because of the volume
- count out loud without playing the guitar, while listening to the original recording and see where the chords fall in respect to counting.

If this doesn't work either, I will suggest a new one smile.gif Deal?

Hello Carmine!

I see improvement smile.gif and I have some suggestions for you:

In the Coldplay lesson - you had a few hesitations around 0:39 and 01:05 - but I am sure they were there because of a slight focus shift wink.gif Keep your mind on the job mate tongue.gif And also, try to shift whole chord positions not placing one finger at a time - see min 0:47 for instance.

In the other lesson, everything is in place mate - good call! One thing that you can work on tho, would be to manage to have the same strength in the upstroke as in the downstroke - see around min 02:37 smile.gif

Let me know how it goes, ok?

Cosmin

I know what you mean. I noticed that while playing. Anyway, now is it just a question of increasing speed, gradually until full tempo?

Once again thanks
