The man is a damn machine! He pumps these awesome albums out left and right, and the songwriting is kick***. Check out a few tracks from his newest, "Go Faster" under the audio page:

http://www.sonicbids.com/epk/epk.asp?epk_id=121906

"Kotzen's latest cd Go Faster features a 4 piece line up with Kotzen handling vocals and guitar. His band includes drummer Franklin Vanderbilt (Lenny Kravitz / Stevie Wonder), keybordist Arlan Shierbaum, and bassist Virgil McKoy. The cd is in the style of classic rock and has influences from groups like Bad Company and The Black Crowes as well as solo artists like Curtis Mayfield and Jimi Hendrix. This essential Kotzen cd features haunting melodies inspired guitar solos and soul stirring lyrics. Richie blends his late 60's early 70's classic rock and soul influences with a level of virtuoso performance rarely heard in modern music."

There are some really cool shred-fusion solos on this one, as well as a lot of funk. The first and second tracks are my favorites right now. You can buy em on iTunes if you're interested.

There are also a couple cool videos of Richie with Sheehan in '06 on YouTube.

I have this album and it's amazing. Great songs, great solos and great vocals.
He improved and changed his style a lot. You can notice it watching his two guitar clinics... the first one for hot licks (shred guitar) and the last one for young guitar (more hard rock and hendrix oriented guitar)... both of them fantastic...
I recomend this album, and many of his last solo albums as well as Vertú project.

gabriel.-

One often overlooked album of his is under the band name Forty Deuce, and the album is called "Nothing To Lose". I'm not sure why he chose to release this under that band name, because I'm betting he wrote all the songs and of course did all the singing and lead guitar work. On top of that the rest of the band is one-name unknowns I think. It's one of his heavier albums for sure, so maybe it was his way of trying to break into the mainstream after being written off as a shredder in many ignorant people's eyes.
