Well I couldn't be happier with my Pod XT Live - I use it for recording and practicing - often with headphones. I think the tone is awesome and makes me sound like a rock god. There are those (Hello MikeM!) who think the Pod sounds artificial compared to a real amp like the Marshal, so I would try one first to make sure YOU are absolutely happy with the tone. Being inspired by how you sound is a big part of playing for me and if you think your tone sucks your playing will likely suffer. If finances and space permit why not just mothball the Marshall so you have it to come back to at a later date? -------------------- Check out my Instructor profile

Don't get me wrong, I use a Line6 Guitarport with my laptop to play along to backingtracks, GMC-instructors, music files or just plain noodling. In headphones it rocks, it's a great soundcard so to say and I wouldn't want anything else. My old Zoom 505II collects dust in the closet now. I'm privileged to be able to have both amps and the guitar port, both have their advantages. I wouldn't be able to play in the evenings if it wasn't for the Guitarport with three kids who'd be best off getting their sleep rather than listen to a roaring amp all night long  If you can't afford both worlds I see the POD as a good compromise for managing bedroom playing and live playing. So is probably the Line6 Spider amp which you can play with headphones aswell as live. But between the two of them I'd choose the POD. ....Look at Andrew how happy he is!

pod xtl
i can't express how the pod xtl changed my life. it works so good with computer. you don't need a sound card it pluges with usb and you can recored with cubase I love my pod xtl and i convinced all my friends to get one . Eyal -------------------- My gear:
