So here's the gag. Three guys walk into a chat room, all from different parts of the world. Each of us speaks, natively, a different language. Santiago and new member Christophe are discussing palm muting when the inevitable sound effects com up. So the question is this:

What does the palm muted chord sound like in your native language?

Speaking for myself, you can say "chug chug chug" to describe it to the english speakers. A gallop could also sound like "jug jugga jug jugga jug jugga jug jugga jah-jah. Jiggity jug jugga jug jugga jug jugga JAH JAH!" to quote Strongbad.

So. How would you vocalize yours, in words, to someone else who speaks your own language?

Jafo, I didn't think my Chug, Chug comment was going to end up in a post laugh.gif

I do need to think about the language barrier when I'm in chat more. I just assume I'm talking to a friend in America. smile.gif

"Think of a guitar solo as a paragraph. You need a clear beginning, a middle, and an end. Look at musical phrases like sentences, and make sure you break them up using punctuation—or space. You pause naturally when conversing, right? If you don't, you'll bore the listener. The same thing will happen with your audience if your solo is one dimensional. You'll wear them out and lose their attention." —Tom Principato

Actually, Santiago used "Chan Chan Chan" before you entered chat at all. I thought it was interesting at that point, and when you did effectively the same thing (in our native language) that was when I decided it would be fascinating to collect some of these examples to see the differences.

I could just as easily have asked for some other onomatopoeia (say, the noise a cat makes).

PS. I actually did break a string right at the end of a Guide Track on a recording for a Record Company, when we listened to the Rough Mix with the Guide Track still in it there was this strange sound right at the end of the song!!! It sounded so good we left it in the Final Mix!!!
