I myself am more of arpeggio/modal player, but now my band has gave me the role of composing custom solo for ROck you like a huricane by Scorpions. Since the whole song is based on pentatonic, I cant dwelve into modes too much (the background is just E,e,e,G,g,A,a,C,D,d, repeting till the end of time) and so I have to learn some pentatonic shredding licks.
One that appaled me was that syncopated zakk wildish lick with bending

Hi Jakub,
Check out these cool lessons from Pablo Vazquez , he has some really nice pentatonic chops:

THE PENTATONIC IS AWESOME! Especially for soloing!
I have no Idea about modes and arpeggios but I could tear your face of with some Pentatonic shreds, hehe^^
First of all: Use your index and ring finger for this lick!!! It's faster and makes the bend easier!
Now you can make variations of that lick, you could move it up in the scale (Ozzy Osbourne: No More Tears Solo) or you could use some tapping licks out of the pentatonic boxes and don't forget some wide bends with vibrato in the style of gary moore to take the tension out of the solo...
Why can't you just write your own solo?
Just a tip, play bended note on 13th fret with ring finger, not with pinky.
Omg, of course if you do bends with pinky even with help from other fingers, pinky will just die after some time..
Edit- pentatonic IS cool!
yeah, its defo index and ring finger for this, G minor Pentatonic if im not mistaken!!
Definitely bend with ring finger instead of pinky !
Just dont use the pinky on this one xD
Just dont use the pinky on this one xD
No point using pinky as everyone said, use ring finger since it is free
I wouldn't use the pinky at all for this one
Looks like a lot of people in here needs to do some pinky training muhahaha
i could play this lick for ages with my sweet piano pinky

I don't seem to have the same problem as you, can play the lick with both ringfinger and pinky.
Must say the ringfinger is easier though, so I prefer to play it that way.
I see most people do around here
OT : Is it just me or is it possible to get more posts on a page ? First I always thought maximum was 10, now its 20 ?
I'd prefer to play the bends with my ring finger - not that my pinky isn't up to the job but why make life harder?
..and pentatonics can be very cool with good use of patterns and interesting rhythm use, together with utilising the entire fretboard, not just one box shape, and incorporating bends/slides/vib - they can't not be cool. If you want to get fancier then use modal and pentatonic together
