Norton makes a virus protection program for macs. As macs become more popular, virus protection will be necessary. Better to be ahead of the curve than behind...

I'd stay away from Norton, but that's my opinion. They are more bloated than most software, and they take over your system.
I'd recommend Avast! - it's excellent: low impact and really effective. -------------------- QUOTE ("Steve Vai") Start by playing something - a bend, a riff, a scale, a song - very slowly; if you make a mistake, start over; do this over and over, until you can play it flawlessly - and I do mean flawlessly - many times in a row. Next, gradually increase the tempo. Eventually you'll be flailing like a madman. |

I've never had virus on a Mac but as Black and White said you should be prepared because you never know. If big companies like Norton produce it already then there must be a reason for that. I use Norton 360 2.0 for Windows Vista and never had any trouble with virus. It's true that it takes up system resources and memory but at least you are protected. Just make sure your system and virus definitions are up to date and don't visit some suspicious sites and illegal download sources.

I use AVG and it is very good having in mind it's free. Don't know about the Mac version. It's actually not PC's fault it's Windows. Windows is developed in C which is a very "free" language and this is why it has so many faults.
About antivirus it is important to install it, but as Emir stated nicely, it is also very important to stay off the illegal sites, and spam mail. And always be careful where you enter your data. Check out the address in the browser bar, these days this is how people get cracked and their identity stolen. -------------------- - Ivan's Video Chat Lesson Notes HERE
