GMC Forum _ CHILL OUT _ Favourite Alcoholic Beverage

Posted by: OrganisedConfusion Jan 13 2008, 03:00 AM

I'm here with my weird mixes of Baileys and Tia Maria but I normally drink some good ales from around the globe. However my favourite drink is Owd Rodger which is brewed in Burton in the UK by Marstons biggrin.gif

What are your favourites?

Posted by: Hemlok Jan 13 2008, 03:14 AM

Beer: Coopers Pale Ale (South Australian beer at its finest)

Whiskey: Tullamore Dew (Smooth as)

Spirit: Tequila (yeeha!)

Shooter: AquaBog (Blue Vok with a layer of Bailey's on top, very nice)

Cocktail: Gremlin (A brutal green mix of alcohol with an aniseed bite to it)

Other: Yaga Bomb (a shot of Jägermeister dropped into a glass of Red Bull and quickly skulled down in one go)

Edit: laugh.gif Don't look at me like that...

Great fan of English ales such as Adnams, Timothy Taylor, Wadsworth, Charles Wells (the list is endless) ... USA comes close with a couple, such as Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada.

However, I have recently become very fond of Grey Goose Vodka Martinis up with an olive. Now I don't know what that actually means in my adopted homeland, but I like the results of saying that to the waiter wink.gif

Vodka.
Coke and Rum.

those are prolly my two faves; only problem is; I can only drink in Europe, since I'm 20 and I can't drink in the States yet

Posted by: mattacuk Jan 13 2008, 09:56 AM

Man, I havent even had a drop of booze in 7 years.... blink.gif

Posted by: MickeM Jan 13 2008, 10:29 AM

Some sweet white wine on a warm day, or blonde beer - Norrlands Guld (Swe) because it tastes good and their commersial is funny. Sometimes I prefer bitter.

Earthy red wine for dinner which is ended off with port.

Gin and Tonic or Dry Martini for cocktails.

Posted by: kyldeee Jan 13 2008, 11:17 AM

There are so many good beers such as Miller, Fosters and some English ales are pretty good smile.gif
But one of my favorites is Guinnes Irish stout beer, or Beamish which is also an Irish stout smile.gif

I don't really drink liquors, but one of my favorites is a liquor made of Fisherman's friends, it really makes your breath fresh biggrin.gif

If you ever make that trip swing by Kent mate, Kent do some great real ales & ciders.

Spitfire, Merrydown etc

I love bitters and real ales, not too fond of lager (bit gasey)

Bacardi & coke (but only when I`m on holiday for some reason??)

A nice Baileys with some ice, lovely smile.gif

Posted by: botoxfox Jan 13 2008, 09:20 PM

I usually just drink ice cold vodka or other clear liquor mixed with ice cold scweppes.

Posted by: Crazyfret Jan 13 2008, 09:27 PM

I do love to drink the darker ales and stouts such as Guiness.

A particular favourite of mine is a dark ale that comes from the Jennings brewery up in Cockermouth in the Lake District called 'Sneck Lifter'. Absolutely gorgeous on draft....mmmmm yum cool.gif

Also looking forward to the annual Wigan beer Festival due around early March.

Also love a good red wine smile.gif

Ice cold COOR'S Lite!

For me it's beer, vodka, beer, beer, Tequila, beer, Blacktooth Grin (Crown Royal Whiskey with coke), dark beer and beer.

I'm not old enough to drink but I do love a good bottle of ginger beer!!!

Posted by: OrganisedConfusion Jan 14 2008, 10:15 AM

I have anything really apart from Cider and Vodka. I also don't understand why people mix coke with Whiskey. You should have it straight or not at all lol. tongue.gif

Not true... I have mixed a few whiskey's with coke. They were all horrid ones but to be fair i tried em out straight first. What I don't like to see is people buying very nice whiskey and then drinking it with cola sad.gif

Whiskey orange for me. :-)

Posted by: rokchik Jan 15 2008, 03:08 AM

I don't drink very often but I'll never turn down a Guinness or a nice cold Keith's (it's a beer brewed in Nova Scotia..India pale Ale to be exact) I also enjoy Stella Artois.

As for cocktails it's gotta be Grey Goose Vodka mixed with Cranberry Juice (or maybe a Redbull to start the evening with a bang) or a Gin and Tonic with a slice of lime.

Posted by: ActiveX Jan 15 2008, 04:35 AM

Jagerbombs! (Jagermeister & Red Bull)

Posted by: Ctodd Jan 15 2008, 06:00 AM

irish car bombs!!

Vladmir vodka, 13 dollars for a half gallon, but it tastes like SH*T!!!
(popular choice among college students!!)

.....what????????? no im not drunk right now (imagine what went through my mind when i saw this thread after coming home from a party haha)

Posted by: Chief Brody Jan 15 2008, 07:16 AM

Drambuie is the only alcoholic drink i can say i love (must be my Scottish roots), although people don't know what it is half the time.

When i was back in the UK i went into a pub and, spying a bottle of Drambuie behind the counter, asked for a shot of it. The bar girl didn't know what it was so i had to direct her, turns out i was the first guy to ever ask for it so i was given a double shot for free mwahaha.

Now i'm in Japan where they tax alcoholic drinks by volume not by alcohol content, so i can get it dirt cheap - as well as any other whiskey i can think of (12-16 year old Scottish malts for as little as 10 quid! ohmy.gif ).

Hard drinkers paradise cool.gif

I find the easiest of tasks difficult when I'm drunk i.e. walking / talking, I don't think I could even contemplate playing the guitar drunk blink.gif

biggrin.gif that looks delightful! To the shop I go right now to buy the ingredients!

I'm havin a Guinness as we speak. I also like a Bacardi Gold with Dr. Pepper. It's also a family tradition to have a shot of Drambuie after dinner. Cheers!

Posted by: Man0waR Jan 18 2008, 06:44 AM

To an earlier post -> I actually don't want to think of a world where you couldn't play guitar drunk.

That's some of the good stuff to be honest.

I drink beer but I change my tastes for it all the time.

On a stronger note, national drinks such as rachie or palinca will do just fine. Warms you up, gets you drunk beyond recognition quite quickly and does not taste like a load of horse crap biggrin.gif

Nice one dude. Had a few of these a while back, not my favourite but pretty tasty.
I'm mainly a beer guy myself, don't like much else when it comes to alcohol. Mostly because of bad experiences...
