GMC Forum _ Private (Muris) _ Mojo Oro Style Lesson?
Posted by: mattacuk Nov 14 2007, 07:30 PM
Hi Mr Muris
So i was thinking, I really love this track as you know. It looks challenging and fun to play!
I was wondering what you might think about the idea of a Mojo Oro lesson? I know its a really long peice of music, but maybe a shortened version with all the techniques?
Keep up the good work!
Matt

Hi Mr. Matt
First of all thanks for your kind words,I'm really glad you like the piece!
Will have that in mind and try to do a lesson is style of Mojo Oro,
with odd grooves and this "exotic" fell,no worries.
Just give me some time,I have about 10 requests to accomplish first.
Haha! Well i know your busy...so no rush of course! More food for thought! It just looks like soooo much fun, and a real meaty challenge!
I wish you could be my live teacher!
Still... GMC allows almost as good as!
Matt

It is no less than incredible. I am only 26 now, but when i was 16 the internet had just taken off. The best you could hope for was to spend an hour downloading a few small bits of information or pictures and that would be it!!
Now with high speed access I have polite and friendly guitar teachers worldwide..... I mean wow.
I think young children today may take the internet for granted as it has always been there for them!
But for those of us who had no internet once, and grew up with it we have had the chance to see it mature - and i feel honoured for that!!
I have a live Teacher, but my teacher is not a technical player (but he is a musical man). I can gain all my technical expertise online...daily...
NICE !

Of course, all my friends had one and i was jealous. Then on my 11th birthday a very kind aunt bought me a Commodor Amiga 500 + and that is where my interest in computers started!
I actually have a real fascination with retro/old computer systems
Posted by: Muris Nov 15 2007, 11:40 PM
Ohh yeah,and good old Amiga.

My favorite game for that was "James Pond" which was about a fish
So in conclusion, Mojo Oro is awsome and Commodore's are cool

Bit more on Commodore, had few games for it,on cassettes of course
and as you go to higher level graphics goes worst and worst,
so on the last level you can't see a thing, can't finish the game.

I remember the Cassettes.... They were so troublesome, i remember sitting there while my friend would rewind the entire tape - and the games took so long to load up!!
we used to play a game called "Dizzy" on that, it was about an egg who could walk around and talk?

Do we have to learn it at "boost" speed ?
Posted by: Tjchep Nov 13 2008, 03:44 AM
Well, this marks the end of my guitar playing career, short lived eh?

Well you can increase speed as much as you want
but lesson is gonna be at original tempo which is 170bpm,
boost version is approx 190-195 bpm.

Are they all 16th notes? I would love to know how many hours you spent developing your alternate picking technique!!

170bpm is nothing to sneeze at either.
But you are right, 190bpm is certifiable!!!

Well let me tell you,
Emir nailed it in like half an hour
and he wasn't completely sober, sort of speak.

YES! I tried sooo hard over summer break to figure this out! But I did not succeed .
EDIT: I think my problem may have been that I was tabbing out the "boost" video (watching is useful for transcribing).

Really awesome, Muris!
However, I prefer your tone in the boost version, sounds more aggressive. Too bad that my membership expired.

I´d like to but I have never watched the videos of the lesson because of my account expiration.
I can play the few first notes that you showed me at full speed.
Posted by: chast Nov 28 2008, 08:21 PM
It is under my fingers now
Not sure how far I will get with the speed, but it's a good picking exercise, so I will keep practicing

I just got a question.
That synth of the backing, is it playing in the same patch as the guitar ? I guess it isn't, but what is it playing ? An octave or a third lower ? Something like that ? ^^
And another question, not refering to the lesson.
Can you upload the mp3 of Junk Medley ?
Posted by: Muris Varajic Nov 29 2008, 01:29 AM
Well synth is sometimes playing same thing as the guitar, sometimes in octave,
sometimes it's 3rd,varies.
Speaking of Junk Medley, few days ago it has been released
through Lion Music label,Guitar Idol 2008 compilation,
check it out there and give some support for
me and those great players.
