Just wanted to say THANKS A LOT for taking the time to do these student collaborations!! I am 38 years old and started playing guitar when I was 18. I have basically NEVER had any kind of interaction with musicians as I have been married with kids since 21 and always been busy with family and career. I have always dreamed doing something like these collaborations and now after 20 years of playing guitar and practicing all those hours I am finally going to try my first collaboration. I know there are probably alot of players on this board like me who are basically hobbyist/bedroom wannabe rockstars. Anyways, just wanted Emir and all the instructors to know how much I appreciate the time and effort you put into these things. MEANS A LOT TO ME, AND MANY OTHERS I AM SURE!! THANKS!! biggrin.gif

That's true, almost same for me..... I was playing in a band back in school time, but since there never did it again... and now and here it's possible again smile.gif I have plenty of ideas, but I'm not able to do it myself.
So - yeah, I have to thank you, too smile.gif

That is totally what I meant as well utak3r. I have tons of music floating around in my head but I have ZERO recording skills and a real lack of time to learn it. That is why I am so thankful for Emir and all the other instructors etc. that put so much time and effort to let people like you and I feel like there is a reason to keep practicing. I have been playing for 20 years and joined GMC in september last year. I have never been so excited about playing guitar as I have been since I joined GMC. Thanks again!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Thank you so much. I know Monte's story that you have family and practice at night hours. Collaborations are good fun and useful for everyone. You record, compose, show creativity, practice etc... It is just like another boost for your playing if you don't know where to start or how organise your playing/practicing, this will give you guidelines and some starting tips for improving your own compositional and playing skills. I hope this one will turn into something very interesting. I am planing to do one per month from now on.

cheers

Thank you for this great post man! God bless collaborations, and God bless GMC! smile.gif

There are also a couple of virtual band projects, so this could be fun as well mate, if you ever feel like it, you can tryout making one song with other GMC members! smile.gif

Well said lcdds!!! I fell exactly the same way. I am at a point in my life where this is not going to be anything but my hobby...and I am ok with that! I love playing, for the love of playing... with no pressure of having it be my income, or passing music tests. It is very liberating! But, I wouldn't be able to play anything that I can without the guys on this board!

Tolek is currently trying to recruit some people for the advanced band since nobody signed up. I don't know that I would consider myself advanced but I am gonna dive in if it works out and do something I have always wanted to do...Make music with other musicians!! I told my wife that most of my best friends now live in Europe or other states in the US. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Can you imagine a GMC without the Forum, Collabs, Uploads etc.? Well I cant even in my darkest dream. That is our dear instructors(not only them but seniors, staff, GMCers) that keep this place alive, thank you man for all the good work you have done. I am spending so more time at here and for here day by day, that maybe my fiancee may renounce the idea of marrying me laugh.gif

There are two options, either she'll kill me, or I'll die of Insomnia laugh.gif

edit: problems that trying to write at speed of thought carries smile.gif
