Hey guys, i'm just in love with Jeff Waters guitar-sound from the 2 first Annihilator albums (alice in hell and never neverland), anyone got any ideas how to get close to that sound with pedals??
It's not overly distorted and has nice separation of notes in chords. And also great chunkiness, just an overall awersome trash sound! And Jeff's a great guitarist too, that's for sure.

Gibson Flying V with a ceramic pickup into a Marshall JCM800 (boosted with a Boss sd-1 Overdrive).

The boosted Marshall JCM800 is basicly what EVERY Thrash band played in the 80s, from Jeff Waters to Kirk Hammett to Kerry King.
I guess the boss overdrive in front of your amp *could* help you color your tone a little in that direction but if you want to get closer to that tone, you have to go for a Marhsall.

Very well said Zakk! Nailed it. Very good knowledge of 80's metal scene/gear as well. I keep thinking you are an old road dog from the experience/info in your responses. Then I keep remembering you mentioned that you just started gigging. I'm routinely impressed by the breadth and depth of your knowledge. Keep it up!

Todd

Thanks Todd!

For me to know Jeff Waters gear from Annihilator is just a coincidence^^
He was on the DVD to a music magazin where he was playing several amps in a store to give a rough impression on how they sound and what they are good for. There he mentioned what he was using back then...

Thanks a lot Zakk, I sure wanna see that DVD! Jeff Waters has a really cool attitude towards music and metal and seems to be a really sweet guy. And his rhythm playing is out of this world.
