- How much time have you been playing guitar?
I've been teaching myself to play guitar for about 5 years.
- Favorite guitarists, bands and musicians.
Very hard to say, i'm not really fixed on one genre of music so i like loads of guitarists and bands and musicians so long as they play with a bit of heart.
- What are your guitar goals?
I want to be able to recognise chord progressions and intervals from ear. I want to know the scale positions of every note in a major and minor scale on the guitar neck to get a better understand of how i can use 3 note chords to spice up my solos. I want to learn more techniques and styles of playing to improve my playing variance.
- How would you like to you see yourself in 5 years (related to music and guitar)?
In 5 years i would like to be writing songs easily in many different styles and genres and I would also like to be able to jam in any situation and in any style with any musician.
- How many times can you play guitar each day?
As many times as i want.
- Do you have playing live experience?
I've played at my school Battle of the Bands and played once or twice live at the pub so my experience playing to a live audience is limited.
- Which are your strong and weak points with guitar?
Good at remembering scales and chords but really bad at remembering other peoples music or lyrics. Need work on my fingerpicking also.
- Can you record videos of you playing?
Yes i can!
- Share here audios and videos that you've recorded.
I don't have any yet! sad.gif

Hi friend! Thanks for your info. In order to start suggesting technique stuff I would like to invite you to choose a lesson that covers different techniques, learn it and record a video to be shared here. It will be a good way to let me check your current level.

Please let me know which lessons you'd like to learn and I can help you to decide which on is better for this purpose.

About learning scales, chords, triads, and all that stuff, I would like to invite you to start working on my improvisation course. You should start with Week#1. You will find the lesson notes and the Vchat video in this link: HERE. (the video is at bottom of the post).

Please learn those concepts and share here some videos or audios of your practicing the exercises.

Hi Gab, sorry i haven't so active recently!
Not to say i havn't been practicing, i've been catching up on your ITC and Improvisation coureses, but I don't have my camera at the moment so i haven't been able to do any videos but i will start posting audio for you soon.

I'm really interested in learning arpeggios at the moment and fiting them into solos. Over this last week i've been learning the arpeggios of Maj7, min7, dom7 and 7b5 chords. Any video you could reccomend that make use of arpeggioes or arpeggio phrasing would be greatly appreciated.

Hope you're having a happy festive season!

Hi Leemckie, how are you?

Maybe you missed my notification but I have been on vacation and I'm back today. It's great to know that you have been working on my technique and improvisation course. The best way to apply arpeggios is jamming over different backing tracks, and the good new is that GMC is full of them. Every lesson has a backing track and the chords are shared there so my suggestion is to do this:

- Choose some backing tracks based on the grooves / styles you like more.
- Check the chords used in the progression and visualize the arpeggio of each one in your guitar.
- Play along with the backing, playing up and down each arpeggio when the chord is sounding.
- Play random notes of the arpeggios, once again following the chords.
- Create melodies and phrases following the chords with arpeggios.
- Add extra notes from the key scale and also chromatic notes. Everything as passing notes that connect arpeggio notes.
- Record yourself and share your stuff here.

These are some lessons that can add some complementary stuff:
