Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Original lesson: Toto (the early days) by Guido Bungenstock

I think I cut a few notes short, seems to be a bad habit I have.

Hi man, you did a good job here with only a few things to pick up on.

You're very staccato with your playing.. there are some notes in the lesson that need to ring out, like the chords at the end of the opening riff just before the lead starts. You separate the notes by fingering them one by one, rather than letting your fingers stay on them.

Some of the little details need to be clearer, like the hammer-on/pull-off at 0:31

The two picked notes at 0:42 just before the bend are meant to be two different notes, not the same one.

The faster runs need some attention ,especially the one at the end because you lose your timing and get left behind.

However, your tone is great and so is your bending. You've got a good melodic ear, you just need to polish some of the details and maybe improve your finger speed.

Hi man,

Good job with this killer lesson. I think that you are very close to make this one sounds great. Ben has marked all the important details to have in mind in order to improve your take so you have a good reference now. The next step should be to listen carefully to each phrase from the original take and try to emulate feeling and mostly what Ben said, articulation of the notes. Besides this, adjusting a bit tempo and polishing those licks that aren't totally mastered.

You can play this one well, but I consider essential that you go one step forward to take your guitar playing to a new level.

Keep on the good job!

Great job with this lesson Chris smile.gif As guys have already mentioned, there are only details to fix. It visible some moments are simply not confident yet. You wonder where to place the finger at some spots so it's not fully in your muscle memory. If you would give some more time, you would get it 100% remembered by your fingers and then you could fully focus on the dynamics and timing. It's not that is sounds totally bad at all smile.gif It's just you're close to a pro level and seems like all instrctors would like to push you a bit to reach that level smile.gif
