Yesterday, my sister was out walking one of our dogs, and she met another dogowner.
The dogs smelled eachother and "socialised", but the suddenly the other dog locked his jaws around our dog and wouldnt let go. The other dogowner had to litterarly kick the dog to get him loose. And afterwards, he just left! Turned into a big wound, and had to go to the emergency vet.. which arent exactly cheap. The vet didnt stich him up but instead made another cut so stuff would pour out instead, something about making an infection easier. We think we know who it is and where he lives, so i might just pay him a visit. These are from after the vet shaved around the wound and did some cleanup. Poor thing, I would be mad too if that was my dog.
I guess the other owner couldn't do much and dogs can lost control, but just leaving - maybe to get his dog away or ya looked pissed and he wussed off? Whatm misfortune...Good luck with your pet Kill him with your metal riffs trond Now that sounds like a good idea Poor doggy That's a reason why I don't let my little dog around any others...it sucks but I think is safer for her Yea, i try my best to do the same. But it's not the dogs i dont trust, it's mostly the owners. what kind of dog was the other dog? Not quite sure, i think it was a labrador. Trond I’m really sorry this has happened and being a dog lover and owner of 2 this really upsets me as well. Glad your dog is ok! I would suggest you wait at least another day before confronting this person so you can clear your head of all the anger and rage you must be feeling. Then if you decide to pay him a visit try and approach it diplomatic at first. Maybe just saying “Hi, my name is Trond and I just wanted to let you know I took my dog to the hospital and he/she is doing fine”. If at that point he still seems like he doesn’t care and offer even an apology that is heart felt I would just walk away. Any further conversation from that point will just lead to a fight. He is already trash and you have too much going for you to mess things up. Don’t let him control your destiny! Your dog will forget about it and be back to his/herself in know time. Just move on. Cheers bro and give your little buddy a rub behind the ears for me. Your right about that. I'm known to rarely get angry, but this just pushed my buttons. My plan is to just calmly show him the vet-bill and try to come to an agreement. Maybe he just didnt really notice how bad it actually was. I've never been in a fight, and i dont plan to start now Poor thing, I would be mad too if that was my dog. I guess the other owner couldn't do much and dogs can lost control, but just leaving - maybe to get his dog away or ya looked pissed and he wussed off? All the best for your dog's quick recovery! Yeapp, thats what annoyed me. Dogs are unpredictable, but ultimately it's always the owners responsability. It just seemed irresponsible and careless to me to just wander off. If our dogs ever did that to another dog i would have taken him/her myself to the vet in a second. Damn. Glad your dog is going to be ok. I'd pay the guy a visit with the vet bill. These kind of actions really make me angry as well. Been always with dogs in my life and I just really don't get it why ppl are doing those kind of things.

In the UK there is a requirement that a dog is under control in a public area - i.e. it should be on a lead. If it attacks a person or another animal and isn't then the owner is at fault. In the UK you could ask the police to speak to the owner and they may issue a caution and insist that the owner properly restrains their dog. Not sure if this is true of Norway but it maybe.
Aggressive behaviour like this really needs to be trained out of the dog but sadly there are a lot of dog owners who do not train or control their animals properly. IMHO those dogs are an accident waiting to happen; we avoid them and keep our dog well away where ever possible. Where we live however there are an awful lot of dogs who roam about off lead and not under any control, including some who have bitten people as well as other dogs. Only thing the owners ever do is to chain the dogs up for a few days until the fuss dies down then they release them and let them roam about again without any training or supervision. Generally the dog isn't the problem, its the owner. Hope your sister's dog recovers ok and gets over the trauma. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer. I'd contact the police. After all, who knows who other dog bites next time, a kid or a baby. -------------------- My bands homepage
