Thank you Gab and yes, my arrangement. The tune is beautifully composed. I really didn't do much to it.

*I just got a re-fret on that (very cheap) guitar and I wanted to hear it as well as feel it playing a song. I recorded it VERY late last night, hence the low volume.

This happens a lot when you record. Even when I work as a producer I notice that first takes on guitarists and singers are usually the best ones. There is something related to recency that makes them special...

I think it's the little taste of the unknown that makes many 'first' takes the keepers.

Aye, I agree with this, simply because after you have recorded ONCE, you will start thinking on the mistakes you made or on the things that came out MAYBE a little different than you wanted them to

After that, your mind will take control and there you go Have you guys managed to ditch the 'worries' and record on a clear mind after Take 1?

You can learn to 'let it go'.

After 3 or 5 takes I usually need to get up and walk around for a minute, have a conversation, maybe a glass of water (or sip of wine/beer). But mostly you got to get in your head space that "you're going to do it - it just may take some time - let it come - and be aware when it does". Conversely ... don't be afraid to use the first take. If it's only one bad note or rhythm(?) - just fix it. No dishonor in that. Everybody does it.

You are totally right man We became utterly obsessed with the idea of nailing it PERFECTLY in one shot if possible. If it doesn't come out as expected, BANG - disappointment installs - uh, oh, I suck... uh, oh, I will NEVER get that little bend as before... and so on. We are doing it to ourselves actually

It's actually all about getting in the zone and staying there - what sort of things do you guys do, to get into the necessary state of mind to record relaxed and productive? I am talking about mental habits

Mostly, I record for other people. My way of getting and staying in the zone is to remember that - I'm here because someone else thinks I should be.

The sound quality is all over the place. All 'covers'.
They're just recorded in the room with a handheld Zoom vid cam.
Primarily done so I don't forget the arrangements. A few were requests.
