GMC Forum _ GEAR & PRODUCTION _ Marshall Jmp-1 (folkesson Mod)
Posted by: audiopaal Feb 16 2009, 10:27 PM
I picked up this beauty from the postoffice 1 hour ago, and hooked it up right away to test it out
This one is modded by folkesson, awesome mod which makes the tubes work a lot more than they normally do in this preamp. The tone controls are better etc...
Anyway, here's a clean tone test: JMP_1_test.wav ( 33.45MB )
: 3034
Recorded only with my JMP-1 into my soundcard with my ESP Eclipse II. A little EQ to make it a tad brighter as the ESP was a bit dark, and I haven't exactly had the time to dial in the perfect tones yet
Sounds great to my ears, can't wait to start exploring it I can only image the cleansounds with my Tele if the Esp sounds like this
Here a new Heavy clip, hopefully this sounds better
Nice tone! do you know a way i could directly record from my g-major just like you did with the jmp-1? the g-major is in my effects loop btw.
Thanks I'm not sure how the G-major works, but I'm pretty sure Muris uses one.. You could PM him and ask about it, I'm sure he'll help you out

Congrats! The JMP-1 is probably my most prized posession, hope you'll be just as satisfied with it. That folkesson mod looks and sounds interesting.. The clean-sound in the sample sounds more spunky and spiffy than i get on my un-modded jmp! ..and it doesnt sound like EMG's at all.

Yeah, I've always liked your JMP-1 as well So it's about time I got my own, hehe.. Yeah, it sounds more alive with this mod, really great.. Can't wait to try some heavy riffing with it soon

Very nice.
I am considering one of those or the Engl tube preamp.
Though its a ways down the road...

Nice Paal but I must say, You my friend, have some serious "Gas".. If I'm ever in Norway, I'm coming straight over to your place... The clip sounded great!

Since you use G-Major in Loop I believe there is no way to record FROM G-Major since it sends signal back to your amp with 1/4 cables. But there are digital outputs there as well so you could give it a shot if you have an audio card with Digital IN.
Nice sample Paal, now give us something heavy!!

I'm waiting for my new computer, mine collapsed so I'm at a not too good laptop atm But in a week or so I'll post something good
Posted by: skennington Feb 17 2009, 10:45 PM
Now that sounds like some Marshall tone and I'm assuming since you are on a laptop, that the soundcard is some stock piece. I can imagine what it will sound like when it's ran through a quality audio device!
Posted by: ZakkWylde Feb 17 2009, 10:47 PM

Thanks mate I'm on a laptop, that's right.. But I'm using a Line6 UX2 soundcard (not my favourite, but works foe now )
I'll post a new clip with bass and drums when I get my new computer and hook up the rest of my equipment

I'd love for Anthrax to remake a few of the old classics, but for that they need Belladonna.. Maybe I should give Belladonna a call, and have him do it with me?
Posted by: jer Feb 17 2009, 11:16 PM
He just may. Whats he doing nowadays.......
Personally I never cared for him.
But something about Anthrax just worked. It was greater than the sum of its parts.
