I was just wondering if anyonoe else experiences a "tingle" sensation through there body when certain peaces of music are played?? If I listen to specific peices of music, everytime i get a sensation run through my spine ! laugh.gif

try not to laugh at me just yet. Im just wondering how music interacts with our nervous systems, its a very interesting question ive had for a while.

We all talk about music on an emotional level, but there must also be a physialogical response when we listen to music . smile.gif

I have no idea why, but the first song that that ever happened to me with was Space Oddity by David Bowie.

I do like to listen to music that does that makes me feel like that though.

Cool !! So a few of us get it then. I was wondering then, if just for example, specific peices of music effects us all the same way.

Or is it that it happens only when its a peice of music special to one person ! smile.gif

We could test the theory out !! biggrin.gif

Of course i do, there some songs that just send chills everywhere. Anytime i hear Iron Maiden's "The Thin Line Between Love And Hate" or Matthew Santos' "My Remedy" for example, i get goosebumps and tingly sensations smile.gif

OF COURSE, I get that often! I think the first time was ~5 years ago when I was listening to Iron Maiden - Aces High.

I get it alot with stuff like Riverdance, classical music and other songs with violins/fiddles. But also if theres a super amazing riff in a song, like the solo part on Iron Maiden - Innocent Exile and Stretch - Can't Judge A Book.
And especially late at night when I'm listening to jazz biggrin.gif

I thought everyone got this from listening to awesome music ohmy.gif

I always got it in the middle lead passage of Dogs by Pink Floyd.

Doooh-doooh-doo-doo-di-di-di-dooo.

(Andrew can admire the extent of my musical theory above)

That used to happen with for me with a few Three Days Graces songs like let it die and gone forever. Its really simple music but I think sometimes that makes it easier to feel

For me one that always gets me is John Coltrane's 'A love supreme'.

Cheers,
Tony

Glad to hear Matt smile.gif - it's an outtake from the album which is even better heard as a whole.
If I remember the whole piece is Coltrane's meditation on and response to The Creator/God/Whatever term you wish to use.

Awesome album imo - jazz would be very different today without the influence of Coltrane.
And he's one of the major reasons why I picked up the guitar (couldn't afford a sax) -

So he's to blame for the pain that I regularly inflict upon my long suffering family and our cats wink.gif .

Cheers,
Tony
