I just picked this up a couple days ago. It is a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle. It has a 383 V8, and has had a frame off restoration. My first step though is converting it to a 4 speed...it is an automatic now.
Edit - Here is a video I made for you Skennington!

Is the auto a powerglide?

It's a built TH350. It can handle up to 700hp. The 383 is putting out about 375hp now.

If it's built, and has a manual valve body, it might run better at the track than with a 4 speed. However, the 4 speed will serve you better on the street. But your a cop so I can't imagine that.. either way, very nice ride man!
I used to build mustangs back in the day and had a friend with a big heavy 72' Monte Carlo with a 383/powerglide/4:10 gears that was just awesome. Made about 450 horse to the rear wheels, 500 or so at the crank.
I even went with chevy valves in my ford motors..

Chevelle has never been a top favorite of mine but a beautiful muscle car is a beautiful muscle car. Ideally I would like 1967 shelby GT500 Fastback.

I am going to keep it a street car...so the auto has to go! It does have a 3,000 rpm stall convertor, which makes it launch pretty well...but it is kind of a pain in the butt to pull it in the garage! I also need to put a real rear end in it. It has the stock 10 bolt, open diff with I believe 3.08's. Once the 4 speed goes in...I plan on 4.11's or 3.73's with an lsd.
All plans for down the road though...and don't tell my wife these upgrades!

Man that is freaking AWESOME! I sooo envy you americans when it comes to muscle cars, and petrol prices, and insurance prices! You would get hounded by the green fraternity over here for driving that, but at a pound a litre for petrol theres no way you could afford to run it here anyway!

Beautiful cars !

This is great man. I'm not that much of a fan of muscle cars, but I can appreciate their beauty and history related to them. When I see this Chevy I think it screams "I need bigger wheels"

Now THAT'S a car AWESOME mate, just awesome
Posted by: edguy Aug 2 2009, 01:28 PM

Posted by: MickeM Aug 2 2009, 02:00 PM
Wow that's a teriffic car! My personal favourites are the Dodge Challanger and Charger ever since I saw Vanishing point as a kid. Bullit is a nice movie too and there's a Zombie film or similar where, I think a Challanger is drive. Can't remember.
And since you're a police officer, forget about tickets

Sounds like a good plan Ben. In my last project, I ran a Doug Nash 4 speed with taller 1'st and 2'nd gears and stayed with the 3.73 for better hwy millage. Thing would still bark all 4 gears..
I would love to hear an audio clip of that bad boy idling.

Sweet sound! But you have to get rid of the "bling-bling-bling"-ing, it's so not muscle car
praetorian and skennington: That's is how a car should sound, this is what's driving a car is all about.
We need more car sound samples.

What is TUV?
That's easy to explain Every car in Germany need a badge from the institiution TÜV. So you drive to them with your car/motorbike and they test it if everything is ok. Then you get that badge for the next two years. If you don't have this badge you are not allowed to drive in Germany.
So where is the problem? well every Tuning needs an extra check from the Tüv. For example you changed your exhaust you have to go to the Tüv and the see if it's correct assembled or to loud.
We have to much regulations here in Germany

Yeah man, stang is mine.. If you don't mind me asking, what was the reason for trading the maro? That bad boy looks like it has some umpf as well!
I'll be getting my car on the Dyno for a custom tune as soon as money permits, I'm hoping for around 400 rwhp.

The Camaro was 600 horsepower. It was awesome...but very tough to drive on the road. Hard to keep traction, didn't love to idle and sit in traffic. The Chevelle is much more user friendly!!!
