it's hard to tell. But personally I believe governments have no problem at all when lying.

They started lying ever since the landing on the moon!

A very difficult matter. I do believe Wikileaks is doing a good job, although some of the revelations may cause serious tensions. But I believe that no government should have secrets from its citizens.

Yeah, well, no society's perfect. It's just improving and regressing back, then improving again. I believe that Wikileaks is a step to the right direction.

This has been all over the news lately. From what I've read, it's all stuff that everyone in politics already knew. It's a bit of egg on the face of the State Dept., but honestly it seems to be getting blown out of proportion. I am concerned though that it will make Diplomats much more reticent to write anything down which will make it a tough job for historians trying to piece things together after the fact.

this does not matter, our government controlled schools have no problem teaching revisionist histeory in the name of not offending anyone

and wont wikileaks help get the actual history out?
Posted by: Todd Simpson Dec 14 2010, 06:20 AM
Wikileaks will get quite a bit out Which will help historians in the short term. But for the long term, I'm guessing there will be less written down and more just left as voice mail and such so that the State Dept. can avoid future embarassment. So trying to piece together our nations political history with much less documentation is a subject of concern for many scholars just now. Political Scientists, Historians etc. However, even when there are gaps, scholars manage to work around it. So in the end, I I'm kinda glad these things were made public as I don't support secrets in our govt. The more openness the better

Reallity - everything that you believe as true and right!, everone have his own reality. so everyone believes that believes in reality. now what reality is right that's the real question imo.
edit: and that's what wikileaks it trying to do, showing us the real reality

Could be he took it further: Why would wikileaks be truth? Could be just another propaganda device. Would be a smart way for us not to question things

There's one guy who dared to say: "I am the truth"
So far no one has really taken his entitlement down. You have to consider him seriously.

Invention of Lying was a very Funny movie. If you haven't seen it, it's worth a rental. Some very big laughs As for the Wiki Leaks scandal that seems to be going strong in the blogosphere, it's hard to argue that open government is better than closed. That said, so far nothing released has been anything really new. Just things everyone already suspected or knew already. It's mostly just embarassing for the state dept. and now Hillary Clinton has to go around and smooth all the ruffled feathers.
Once Julian takes care of the rape charges in Sweden, he could leverage this current Zeitgeist to great effect if he takes it by the horns and runs with it. Book deal, movie deal, etc. All this from a simple Wiki. Well done there.

This is so great. Wikileaks is working for such a good cause. A few days ago I saw a Swedish documentary about it. Brought a tear to my eye when they showed the helicopters shooting down innocent men and children.
