kiko has been making a series of cool vids on the road with megadeth. In this one he shows his touring rig which is amazingly simple. It's basically just QUAD CORTEX. His guitar tech walks us through it. He has four guitars with wireless packs and he switches between them via his tech hitting an input switch. He has a backup cortex unit of course, but his entire rig is basically the quad cortex. He uses one amp for all of his patches. It's the Friedman 100 clone. Just adds an overdrive or delay depending on lead/rythm. It's a very simple setup but goes to show what can be done with technology.

Also, he mentions that all of the lights, LEDs, and patch changes to the quad cortex are all done with midi like many bands are doing these days. It certainly makes it easier on the lighting guy! Before automation, a guy had to sit there at the lighting board and hit buttons all night. There is a short clip at the end that shows the lights synched up to the sound. Automation has changed a lot of things over the years, not the least of which is live shows smile.gif

*Also, the cortex feeds the mixing board, he isn't using a mic on a cab, as many folks just run direct these days as the processors are great and there is zero chance of signal bleed as you may get with a live mic.

Here is another one I thought was cool. It's his "Back to the stage" after 18 months vid. Due to the pandemic, many tours have been waiting things out. Finally, shows are happening again and it's a great thing imho. This vid follows him around a bit. It looks like he has someone with a camera trailing him this entire tour and putting vids together.

This one takes us back to rehearsal before the tour. You can see an ipad being used much like a dry erase board back in the day for writing the set list. You can see the huge stack of cabinets on stage, but as mentioned in the first vid, only 4 of the guitar cabs are active. The rest are just for show.
