Nowadays, I get inspiration from many different artists from guitarists, composers and producers to film makers and writers. However, there is one guy that make me want to play guitar when I was 10/11, and he was Slash!




Then, I've discovered Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Petrucci, Gilbert, Govan... and every day I discover new guitarists and music that inspires me to make more music.


What about you? Who inspires you to make music?

For me? Tony Iommi. First time I heard Paranoid that was it. I need to be able to make noises like that!!!

These days it is pretty much the same for me as it is for you, Gabriel. I can find inspiration from many different places. In the beginning the biggest influence was from Jimmy Page. Then a little later it was Iommi, EVH, Lifeson, Hendrix, Santana and Beck. And still later it was Gilbert, Howe, Satriani, Vai and Kotzen.

For me it's various guitarists I listen to that inspire me - such as Aaron Marshall and Andy James.

Per my other post, for me it was my Uncle Mark. His Red SG was a killer axe and he could improv a solo over anything. Just close his eyes and effortlessly create a killer solo on the spot. I wanted to be able to do that from about age 6.

His axe looked like this one below. I got my first electric from him. He let me borrow a strat that he'd stuffed a humbucker (super distortion) in the bridge position.

no as i know.... sadly; he passed away in 1995

i know he have recorded a lot of track for various artist like Michel jonazs etc...

i suspect him to play on this one, this way to play is familliar to me, he was a hammond specialist



My sister still have his Hammond B3 with leslie cabs.

randy Rhoads is of course my idol , but I think the most important factor from Blizzard thru no more tears is Bob Daisley . and if you look after that , the musician ship declined. Rumor has it Sharone wasn't paying or giving Daisley his due , The proof is in the pudding

Interesting! I've enjoyed Ozzmosis too. But maybe it's not as good as the previous ones, I don't know... then, I get a bit bored. I've enjoyed mostly the promotional singles like this one:

Many players inspire me to try harder etc but I get a lot of inspiration from people themselves and situations.

Earlier this year my father in law was rushed into hospital with a bad UTI. He was going in and out of lucidity, falling asleep then waking to hallucinations that made him jump, like huge spiders on the wall, or trucks coming through the hospital ward. It was very sad to see. When I got home, I just played the piece below, I needed to express what I had just seen and how sad it made me. Listening back to it, the last 20 seconds makes me think of leaving him there, walking back to the car with my wife wondering "what next".

It's not melodic or anything, it's just raw feelings, my heart on the fretboard.
