Hey all! This weekend I'm FINALLY going to have an oppertunity to pick one of these babies up. I'm returning a pedal I purchased to buy one and probably something else. I've been searching guitar center and it seems that most metronomes are also tuners etc. I was hoping to get a recommendation for a metronome - looking to spend no more than 50 usd, trying to stay around the 30 usd.

Thanks!
- Gerald

The Korg MA-30 is a fine choice. I have one of those and it does a great job.
Also, if I'm not mistaking, this is the one Kris uses in the Metronome lesson, so have a look at that one to see it in "action".
It's pretty cheap, around 30$ at guitarcenter I believe smile.gif

Sweet! That's what I'll go for then! Does it have different tones for the click? I like a wooden block type tone. If not, then it's not a big deal.

thanks!

Try some other metronomes too. THis one is not bad, but i think it has slightly annoying click sound to it. (remember you must listen to that sound every day smile.gif

You can't change tones , its very basic , you have options of :
Tap temp - to tap the desired tempo
Beat - change different note values , it has presets for it
Sound - Note and calibration. And don't have use for it because I have a good tuner..It plays different notes so you can tune your instrument by ear..You can calibrate the frequency for it (440 standard)
It has a mute button
On/off button
And up and down arrows
You can adjust the volume of the internal speaker and it is loud enough for practice. It has a certain "tetris' like tone which is distinctive. Its good for me, loud and clear wink.gif It has a cool display with a nice big black virtual needle wink.gif
Also it has output for phones but I think it does not output stereo signal so just one earpeace would work...And that may be its major flaw..
It uses 2 AAA batteries (you just split open the back side and see the guts in it) and place batteries...They last long..

If you need a simple , compact metronome, that works nice, and has a small price- this one is cool ...And works well , I paid 20e for it and was the cheapest one...You'll find it much cheaper in your country..

But if you can tryout some metronomes in store, do it and listen to the tone of it and find one for you..Even with the woodblock sound..
That will be the most important part of your gear for sure!

Cheers cool.gif

Thanks all - I ended up picking up the the Korg. The tone doesn't bother me even though it's not the woodblock tone I prefer. I have some additional questions now on timing, but I'll post that in another part of the forum. = )
