+1 Like his voice much better! In a way I´m also +1 to Zakk´s reply but I really, really like the album "Balance" - the first song is fantastic:

You would be surprised who all doesn't really like Van Halen... I don't at all either.

I have some fondness, mostly from nostalgia, of both bands named "van halen" but I never felt very strongly about them as a group. I did consider them to be two entirely distinct bands that just happened to have the same name, and 75% of the same members. Very different after the split with roth.

OMG, hahaha, ok yeah i don't really like the band that much, but i do think eddie is a guitar beast, original and super talented. BUT, they do have some good songs, running with the devil? come on!, hot for teacher, mean street, those are very very good songs, i don't think a guitar player can not like em

EVH is a great guitar player, but his music never did anything for me. Sorry Eddie!

Of course Eddie is a great player, just that this alone never was enough to attract me to a band, I have always been COMPLETELY immune to the Malmsteen virus for example. And I agree, also old Van Halen have some cool songs, Hot for teachers for example, still I never really followed them much, only when Hagar joined and I saw a video on MTV I got more curious cause I liked his voice much better.

I like some of the old songs, but I've never followed them really.
Regarding Malmsten, I love his concerto album, but never listen to any other album.

"Van Halen" has one of best rock riffs!

I never really listened to Van Halen as well, but some of his well known riffs are engraved to my head. Don't know how tho, never listened to actual songs
