Here is where the magic happens: the REC board turns bedroom guitarists into real pros. Remember - it doesn't matter if you fail or pass, as long as you keep posting REC takes you will progress.

The entries will be graded by a number of instructors. After grading, members will be accredited with the appropriate points if they pass, and adjustments will be made to their REC level.
Passing grade is 6 or higher.

Here is my take for Muris lesson : https://www.guitarmasterclass.net/ls/writing_a_solo_dynamics/
I use :
  • Korg Pandora PX5D
  • Ibanez JPM 90th anniversary model
  • Logitech Quickam Pro 9000
  • Ubuntu Linux 9.04
  • Audacity and Avidemux for editing sound and video

I recorded the video and audio in one shot. Then I had to edit the video to put the backing track on it smile.gif .
I submit this video to the april 2009 3 intermediate challenge.

Damn, this was very tricky to rate,
you learned piece really good notes and rhythm wise
but somehow you missed the main thing about this lesson, dynamic.
Set free your picking hand and really HIT a string from time to time,
it wont hurt but will give you better expression, good job nonetheless! smile.gif

I pretty much agree with Muris. You got all the notes right and everything else but you played it just like you wanted to press all those frets and go home. Almost like a machine. It would be nice to hear some more feelings and expressions. Dynamics can be achieved with different variations of vibrato and note control. It's a stylistical issue but everyone has it. You hardly showed that expression but the playing was good. Also your tone could be a bit brighter regardless of the bridge pickup that you're using, or at least it sounds like that. The rest was very well done.

This was nice take Grindguer. I agree with everything mentioned above but would like to add two things.
Your tuning doesn't match backing track 100% (sounds flat) , and your bending needs work (it varies from going flat or sharp over target note).
Sound was already mentioned, maybe you can brighten it up a bit, increase tone control on your guitar and add more mids to the EQ's. Hope that helps.

Nice take !

Great take, a bit more secure playing would be even better, but everything came out very good! smile.gif
