Hello guys, this thread is to talk about composition. I usually receive messages from students saying that they use to create cool riffs, rhythms or melodies but then they stuck there and cannot continue these ideas to complete song. They forget the ideas, feel frustrated and interrupt the composing flow.
Do you feel identified with this story? How do you deal with it? Do you have any trick or you just dedicate to guitar practice and cover songs? Please share your experience here and I will give you tips to finish all those cool unfinished ideas. -------------------- My lessons

I'm one of those students and I'm curious to see where our small project will lead me Gab Normally I dedicate my time practicing and covering GMC lessons or songs. I'm very excited with this project together. For the ones who don't know what we are talking about. We are working with Mad on an EP in which we will apply concepts that we are learning from analyzing songs of two bands that he likes. I'm very excited with this idea. I use to always be like that. To help complete songs I learnt more theory. When it you know what scale a song is in it gives me options on what will work and then its just a matter of taste and it makes it alot easier to just jam to it until you find something that works. With forgetting I have the worse memory ever so I record everything. There are plenty of free recording programs and the REC tutorial will help alot. Record everything then write it down in a note pad. I have a book next to my desk the whole time full of lyrics and tabbed out riffs and licks. Also if you get ideas while away from home and stuff just text them to yourself. Learning more about theory can definitely give us ideas to compose a song but it can also block our creativity and limit instead of expand. Be sure that knowing the scale in which you are don't limit you to 7 notes while we can use 12 for a song and also to 7 well defined chord while the possibilities are endless. We are already working on technique and theory at Gab's Army, we can also start experimenting with composition there. +1 Do you have any finished songs? -------------------- My lessons
