Hi Josch!

Great to find this new take from you at REC!

I think that you are dong a good job with this lesson which is not as easy as it seems. It requires a good control of palm muting and fast alternate picking riffing. I'd like to mark some things in order to improve this one:

- There are some timing issues in the intro riff. That fast 16th notes pattern requires some more practice since it is not completely tight and it must sound like a machine.

- The intro riff palm muting needs some adjustment. Notice that the sound is not clear. I don't hear the note too much, I hear more like an effect, a noise. I recomend you to experiment with the strengh and position of your right hand palm to get a more balanced tone.

- The riffs that are between the chords also have some little timing issues. Isolate and practice them to polish the part.

- I think that your tone could have less distortion and a bit less highs, and more low frecuencies. I would go for a warmer and cleaner tone, closer to the original lesson.


That's all that I note by now. This is not bad at all, keep on rocking.

What Gab said about the tone is the first and most obvious thing that caught my ear.

Secondly - since this riff is all about conveying a machine type of one-note rhythm - timing is everything. So the rhythm advice Gab gave will be your holy bible to perfect this lesson.

I don't think you are that far away from getting a pass grade here - and only by fixing the tone issue you will get a higher grade for me, as this problem substantially lowers the listening impression. As it stand now you get a 5 from me.

Hey there Josh!

I would not surprise you with a tone thing - yes, it's too harsh for my taste as well. Try to change listening perspective - use headphones, or try to get your ears more "in line" with pc speakers. I belive the point of listening makes you put such a high amount of treble. It may sound quite good from your perspective but as you can see 3 independent players notice this in a same way so it's a signal that thing is worth reviewing

Timing is another thing. Your right hand loks tensed and most of the motion comes from the forearm instead of wrist. This is way you have no solid resdting point for palm muting - your hand moves across the bridge instead of part of the palm being "glued" in one spot.

I would start from working out these two things. In general your take is quite nice but these details do matter and fixing them can make you sound like a totally different player
