Phil I love how you wear the appropriate T-shirt for your videos, and also I really liked the tone you had in your Phil Collen preset in the Rec.

I'm going to be trying that lesson next.

Thanks for your kind comments buddy. It's a nice lesson, one of those not too complicated but harder than it seems, the timing of one of the chords will catch you out for a while at first wink.gif

Ok Todd,

Here is another go, I've added a bit of messing around with the lick, it's a bit "nursery rhyme" but I don't mind looking silly anymore smile.gif
The first cycle of the lick has a small error but the second is ok so I didn't edit it out to polish it wink.gif

I'm very sorry that you had to work on this during a time of emotional stress sad.gif The good news is that you KILLED IT!!! I can tell you put the work in to be able to play this right. I know this is not the kind of lick that you normally play and it's not the kind of lick that I normally teach!!! You manage to leverage the techniques that we use all the time and apply them to a new lick with grace and skill. No string noice, very evenly paced, nice clean pick strikes, it's all there. All of your work over the years are here on display in this one lick. Congratulations Soldier you just ......

LEVELED UP!!!!!!!!!!

*P.S. You still remain the ONLY GMCER EVER!!! To attain the "STAR OF HONOUR" in all three badged categories!!!!

*In recognition of your work, I"ve made your badge just a pinch bigger than everyone elses smile.gif

It was close enough smile.gif I thought you were just adding your own bit of "BEN"ness to it to make it your own thing to be honest. If you guys miss a note here or there, it's not the end of the world as these are meant to be "QUICK" licks, E.G. Something you can learn very QUICK and put to good use right away. You got it man!!! Oh, and NICE IBBY!!

Just realized I'm not playing it as according to the tabs.

BINGO!!!! See!! It wasn't as hard as it looked was it? I mean sure, it's an Arp LIck with a slide in it, but as far as those go, this one isn't so bad smile.gif Also I like what you did with it when you sort of made it your own. That's what I like to see smile.gif Have FUN with these things!! They are meant to be picked up quickly and then played around with. This doesn't have the same approach as BOOTCAMP where we are always pushing for perfect execution and brisk pace. These are supposed to be fun, quick, licks that you can pick up and add to your bag of tricks and use in Solos, as warm ups, etc.

You have very good form here, more than I was even expecting! No string noise, good slide, very tight work. Now Id say you are getting the hang of what QUICK LICKS is all about smile.gif You are READY FOR QUICK LICKS 7!!!!!!! You can go back at any time, if you ever miss any of them, and pick them up later. For now, you just.....

LEVELED UP!!!!!!!!

All I did was move the slide to the G string instead of the D string. It felt more natural that way to me.

SCORE!!! This one is all about precision. One note at a time, keeping it clean. You do a great job of doing that. Keeping the other strings from making noise is the hard part on a bit like this and you do a great job with your muting. Yet another bit to add to the box of licks for warmup and practice. Rotate through these so that you don't lose them and play them each now and then so that your bag of tricks is always growing.

In other words you just ...

LEVELED UP!!

HE SHOOTS, HE SCORES!!!!! You clearly have got this technique in your pocket as well!! Very articulate, no string noise, clean strikes, clean fretting, smoothly played, even in pace, nice. It's all there. The muting is key here as string traverse is constant. If your muting slips it will be readily apparent. The good news is, your muting is on point!!!!! You are ripping through these!!! Keep it up! You just..
LEVELED UP!!!

Nice!! This one is really just to get your hand used to doing sweep "ish" shapes and moving up the neck without leaving gaps. You did great! The more you play this type of lick the easier it will get. Arps/Sweeps are tricky and require quite a bit of practice. You are on your way!!! You just...
