Bending, I can't keep the other strings from making noise

Watch some of the solo videos and you'll see the index finger used as a "bar" on bends. It's not pressed down, just sitting on the strings. When you do your bend, the only string that will ring is the one that is pressed and the others will be muted by your index finger. It was really easy to do once I noticed it.
