Hi MisterM, this is sounding good! There is only some more room to make the triads sound clearer but other than that this is a really good take, good timing and tone.

Hi MisterM! Good job with this lesson! I note improvements regarding staccato on this take. You playing is becoming more precise. As Javier said on the youtube comment, you are giving this one your own personality and that's a really good thing.
If you would like to get even more from this lesson, setting a cleaner tone and trying to get the dynamics that he gets on the staccato section could be the next step with this one. Also, there are some little moments where your timing could be groovier. Other than that this is a really good take, keep on the great job! -------------------- My lessons

Hi Gab
I'm "Tone Star" ? It's a new level bitwin "Rock Star" "Tone seeker" I'm not able to play this lesson :"Ben's land of legato" I had posted a REC a few months ago, but I gave up, because I did not progress. Today I understood my mystake : My index finger was blocked on the string. I work every day by hoping for a progress. My index finger leaves the string and my hand is more relaxed. Videos are sometimes lacking explanation, it's a pity. I bought this accessory to work noiselessly. What do you think about it ? Soon my REC about "Off Beat Boogie". Hi MisterM!
I'm not completely sure about your issue with land of legato lesson. Is it possible for you to share a short video to let me check exactly what you mean? About the noiseless accessory, I don't think that it's a good idea to practice with it. It's better to find the way to mute the strings that you don't want to play with your own hands. It's a risk to get used to not mute well when playing, and develop bad technique habits. -------------------- My lessons

Hi MisterM!
Your videos look good. About the use of your index finger, it's ok to be able to play in both ways depending on what you are playing. When playing a repetitive like this one, you'll find that keeping the fingers fixed will make things easier to play at fast tempos. Using the second option that you shared for soloing when you are not going to repeat that note. So both things become important. About your current playing, there are basically two things that you should pay attention: - Making smaller movements: Your left hand fingers should stay closer to the fret board when you quit them. This is not a problem at this tempo but it can be a limiter when playing faster. - Muting: There are still unwanted noises here and there. You need to use your index to mute the closer lower string as well as the higher ones as a bare. Have you seen my how to mute video at the Guitar Gym thread? The tempo that you are using to practice is ok but if you are not able to think on the previous things comments, it is ok if you play slower. Keep on the hard work! -------------------- My lessons

Great MisterM! About the muting techniques, you have to be patient and work slowly. At first it seems to be impossible but with a little time your fingers gets used to the new positions and it will become really natural.
Keep me updated. -------------------- My lessons

Hello Gab
When I saw this lesson, I had a crush. TOTO The Early Days I work since 6 days 30mn / 1 hour everyday. it's not perfect, I must work First : some séquences are hader than others. 2d : The height of some bends is difficult has to get.... What do you think about this REC ? I made a REC : OFF BEAT BOOGIE Solo It is slightly too fast for the moment. It is easier has a speed of 80/90 %. I wanted to see a recording is 100 %, but it is not unfortunately decisive. Many background noise.. This post has been edited by MisterM: Oct 11 2015, 06:28 PM |

Hi mate! It's great to see you working hard on these amazing lessons!
You are doing a very good job with both and even knowing that there is more work to do, the results that you are having are really positive. Toto's lesson is a brilliant exercise for developing phrasing and working on expressing techniques. You can play the whole thing at tempo but now you have to go deeper with the use of bending, vibrato, and the dynamics of each phrase. That's what makes Guido's solo so cool. Also, I think that you could get a lot of this lesson, by improvising and creating variations of this solo over the backing track. The second lesson, as you said, still needs more work. You are not comfortable yet with most of those solos so the first steps now are to avoid unwanted noises and be able to play each lick clean and clear. That's all by now, you are very motivated which is a great thing, keep going! -------------------- My lessons

Hi Gab
Since a few weeks, I work my theory with a Friend. The guido's lesson gave me of the work about the harmonization. The solo has harmonized (I think : at the third) I think that I found the scale : A - B - C# - D - E - F# - G# - A 00"00"36' : first voice : E----F#-E---D--B--B Sec. voice : G#-A--G#-F#-D--D 00"00"39' : first voice : C#-D--C#--D----E----D---C#-B--A---B Sec. voice : E---F#-E---F#--G#--F#-E---D--C#-D 00"00"44' : first voice : E----F#--E---D---B--A--B Sec. voice : G#-A---G#-F#-D--C#-D My questions : - Harmonization was played with 2d guitar or with hamonist processing ? - All the sequences has harmonized , or just 00"00"36' to 00"00"38' ? I try to REC first séquence + 2 notes of 2d sequences 1rst audio : solo at the third 2d audio : solo + solo at the third What do you think about this track ? Hi mate, great to see you going deeper with the lesson's theory. The info shared about scale and improvisation are right. The scale used during those parts is B minor. About your questions: 1. It sounds like it has been played. 2. Just the parts that you've transcribed. The harmonization recording sounds good. The only detail is that it seems that one of the guitars isn't perfectly tuned. It's nothing serious but when harmonizing, a perfect tuning becomes even more important. -------------------- My lessons
