Dont belive a word
This is my rendition of the classic song by Phil Lynott - a great musician, songwriter, singer that played a major role in rock music. Tragically he died from his abuse of drugs in the 80's. He was totally honest bout himself in his lyrics which can be heard in this song as well as in others. R.I.P Phil. About the recording: This is just a demo made in simpliest way possible - just to show my band the ideas. It was recorded on my laptop with no fancy stuff at all, except for the bass that was played by me with MIDI-guitar through a Roland VG-99. Otherwise Amplitube 3 was used for all guitars. Just the effects in Cubase 5. All guitars were improvised, except for the middle solo that was cleaned up after the first take. As always - the drum programming took most of the time - I would kill for a real drummer sitting ready for some takes when I need it... The vocals was however sweetened a bit by copying the lead track twice and then pan the channels left right with a slight detune and a negative delay in time. Guitars used was my Suhr Strat and the women-smelling LP for the heavy distorsion solos.... Great expression in the whole song. I love it! It's very relaxing. Thx Fre! I forgot to mention that most of You other guys had probably heard this song with Thin Lizzy in an up-tempo version, but the basic version was written this way and was later altered by the other guys in Lizzy to better fit the image of Lizzy as a rock band.... //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. Thx. Guys!
@ Bogdan. I really wanted to test a simple way of doin this, I even used a EMU 04/04 -soundcard, which in fact has great sound. The drums was EZ-drummer and most of the patterns were out of the box with some small adjustments. @ Adrian. No its not Trilian. Its the P-bass sound in Roland VG-99 that runs into the Ampeg SVT -preset in Amplitube. Its even got too fat, so I cutted some EQ at 120 Hz, but I think it could be even better with spending some more time on the playing and the EQ..... Oh, yeah. The whole mix runs though Analog Mastering Tools "Max Warmth" to add some loudness and warmth.... //Staffay -------------------- Guitars: Ibanez AM-200, Ibanez GB-10, Fender Stratocaster Classic Player, Warmouth Custom Built, Suhr Classic Strat, Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, Ibanez steel-string Amps: Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Marshall JMP 2103, AER 60 Effects: BOSS DD-20, Danelectro Trans. .... Its even got too fat, so I cutted some EQ at 120 Hz, but I think it could be even better with spending some more time on the playing and the EQ..... ... //Staffay Just a suggestion Staffay... Instead of cutting at 120 you could perhaps look at attenuating the harmonics at 240 and 360 instead. That may help thin the bass a bit whilst still leaving the low end in place. -------------------- Get your music professionally mastered by anl AES registered Mastering Engineer.
