I prefer melodic passages over anything really. Cool melodies impress me but I do like the sound when string skipping. You can create some weird sounding music smile.gif

I think I have to go with DeepRoots on this one. 8 finger tapping just blows my mind.

8 finger Tapping, the possibilities of melodies and harmonizing yourself are endless. Stuff like Bob Zabek, Chris Broderick, Stanley Jordan, just some of the most beautiful music ever.

I picked bending. Everybody can bend, but few have really good control over their bends and can make you feel like they can do anything with bends. That's what impresses me the most.

I would say 8 finger tapping but I voted for legato just because of Dave Murray's Amazing legato licks are just plain Wow.

I am with Trond,

chicken pickin/hybrid picking.

Some of that stuff is just nuts! I have alot of respect for alot of country music guitar players because of this. People like Brad Paisley are just sick when it comes to stuff like this it takes so much pick control and speed to get it to sound right i am blown away by it.

Here's one more for chicken/hybrid picking. can be amazing and for me, very, very hard to learn.
There's a lot of the other options I could have ticked as well.

I like slapping, but it's not my favorite, what impress me is when I se some one who can really play guitar, not just trying to be as fast as he can.

I think the best and most effective technique is a great vibrato!
When i listen to a lesson by Marcus Lavendell i am always amazed how great his vibrato sounds and how much it adds to the feeling of the song. The other techniques are also impressive, but i think vibrato is the most important one.
